Summary Description:

The Estimator will prepare pricing estimates, including developing a takeoff of all material and labor required for the project. This takeoff will be combined with outside vendor pricing to produce a complete project cost estimate. Work with outside vendors to request and receive project specific pricing to meet firm deadlines. Coordinate with operations and sales on project costs and timing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: ( Include the following, other duties may be assigned.)

• Collect and analyze data that impacts cost of labor, materials, supplies, and equipment to maximize quality and accuracy of bid in a timely manner.
• Review and compile “take-off” quantities, existing cost history, and calculations to ensure accuracy.
• Participate in estimate and bid reviews with Management to develop estimating skills.
• Analyze previous bids to recognize areas of improvement
• Review drawings, specifications and proposed project site conditions.
• Record findings and solicit input from field operations to include in final project estimate.
• Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase competitiveness of the bid.
• Analyze and communicate bidding risks, strategies and present estimate / bid to Sales Manager for review to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Communicate estimate bid information Salesmen to ensure understanding of scope of job.
• Maintain and support all internal safety, quality, and environmental standards and procedures.
• Use Bluebeam/REVU to do takes offs
• Understanding of Excel and Microsoft office.

Education & Experience: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and /or ability required.)

• Ability to read and interpret construction documents including design drawings and specification documents.
• Ability to read shop drawings
• Microsoft software applications including MS Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Emphasis on the ability to manipulate Excel spreadsheets.
• Experience with PDF Review/editing software(Bluebeam, Acrobat)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting stringent deadlines
• Must be detail oriented an have the ability to focus on given tasks.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: (The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.)

Work will be performed in an indoor office environment. Position requires long durations committed to independent reading and computation. Strong concentration skills necessary.
