Arizona State University is Hiring a Coordinator, Family Programs Near Tempe, AZ

The Coordinator for Family Programs supports the development, execution and assessment of programs, initiatives and resources for ASU families. The Coordinator will have the opportunity to support a wide range of family programs with an emphasis on the ASU Family ambassador (volunteer) program, parenting student initiative and event operations. Working collaboratively with New Student Programs and University partners, the Coordinator plans and executes events and programs for families and incoming students as assigned. The Coordinator ensures that the goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time and funding limitations or other specifications. In collaboration with the ASU Family and New Student Programs team, the Coordinator supports the continued advancement of the unit and contributes to forward planning and resource development.

The position is located on the Tempe Campus within the New Student Programs and ASU Family Office. This is an in-person position with office hours Monday through Friday, 8 a.m to 5 p.m. with occasional evening/weekend programming.

Essential Duties

  • Develop and manage event registration websites, communications and assessments.
  • Support the operations of ASU Family Ambassadors and the ASU Family Ambassador Council including scheduling meetings, drafting communications, managing applications, updating Ambassador data, and coordinating events as assigned.
  • Organize ASU Family data storage and perform regular maintenance to update contact lists for Family Ambassadors, parent and family contacts, Council members, Family Hub Content Editors, etc.
  • Draft initial data reports and support overall program assessment and reporting needs.
  • Provide support to the Customer Service Specialist Sr. for the ASU Family salesforce accounts, assigning cases to staff as appropriate and answering general inquiries; provide support as needed for New Student Orientation salesforce cases.
  • Support operations in the ASU Family Hub]; posting content, building communications and event registrations, overseeing data updates and training Content Editors.
  • Coordinate assigned Family and New Student events, including logistics, communications, marketing, partnerships, orders, etc.
  • Provide support on Family and Academic Orientation Session, assisting with program planning, operations and execution
  • Collaborate with the team on the development and implementation of Family and New Student resources including print materials, social media and digital assets.
  • Represent ASU Family at University events and serve on various university committees.
  • Provide day of program support, coordination and implementation for all ASU Family events and New Student programs as assigned.
  • Actively partner and support New Student Programs events, initiatives and programs including, but not limited to: Family Weekend, ASU Welcome, Family Orientation, Family Game Series, Family Connection Live, Parenting student events, Family Connections, New Student Orientation and Family Ambassador networking.
  • Lead initiatives for students with dependents including curating and writing the monthly Parenting Student newsletter.
  • Assist with budget proposals and recommendations, including proposed equipment and resources for events/programs.
  • Provide prompt, quality service to all parents/families, students, faculty and staff.
  • Create and maintain positive working relationships and communication with University and Community partners, as well as outside vendors.
  • Prepare and coordinate department mailings.
  • Maintain contact lists and program tracking documents.
  • Utilize PeopleSoft, Google Suite, MS Office Suite, Social Media and database applications.
  • Support and grow ASU affinity with families and students
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work, regardless of weather.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Work collaboratively across various departments within the University and surrounding communities, as well as with diverse populations and groups, to achieve work objectives
