Arizona State University is Hiring a Project Mgr Research Near Phoenix, AZ

Job Description
Works closely and collaboratively with Principal Investigator, research team, and other stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute projects; identifies and acquires necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with sponsoring source's expectations; manages day-to-day operations, budgets, and personnel. The project manager is expected to know and be able to perform all study coordinator's and interventionist's responsibilities and can cover for these roles when needed.
Working Environment
  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years related experience; two (2) of which are in project management.

Desired Qualifications
  • Evidence of a Bachelor's degree in clinical health sciences such as nursing, exercise science, or related field plus one year experience working in a research environment.

  • Experience with computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Office, REDCap, Airtable, Adobe, and media, e.g., website management, social media.
  • Research experience including clinical trials research involving direct patient contact, recruitment, scheduling study visits, and delivering treatments to participants.

Essential Duties
Management of Multiple Projects
  • Develop, maintain, and organize protocols, SOPs, and project materials in designated storage spaces, e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive, REDCap, file cabinets.
  • Meet monthly and annual goals of each project.
  • Monitor completeness and accuracy of all study data collections in REDCap for timely retrieval for reports, tracking, decision-making, and grant writing.
  • Prepare reports for each project, including progress and stakeholder reports.
  • Document project activities, strategies, and decision-making, e.g., meeting minutes, project tracking files.
  • Meet institutional and regulatory requirements, e.g., IRB approvals, NIH updates, DSMB requirements.
  • Assess and track events, e.g., protocol deviations, violations, adverse events, and report to relevant parties, e.g., within 24 hours to IRB and DSMB for serious adverse events.
  • Plan and host meetings and events, e.g., visits of external partners, travel for project team, stakeholder meetings.
Communications to Advance Projects
  • Communicate with the PI regularly on project progress, issues, conflicts, delays, barriers, and facilitators.
  • Maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, e.g., PI, project teams, university partners, community partners, participants and families, YMCA, Banner, public.
  • Use multiple communication channels to promote and disseminate projects, e.g., social media, press releases, newsletters, websites, interviews, presentations, exhibits.
  • Develop messages, materials, and communication plans with project teams, e.g., calls for proposals, newspaper articles, emails to stakeholders.
Personnel Management and Leadership
  • Supervise hours and productivity of all project staff in daily operations.
  • Ensure staff, students, and volunteers understand their responsibilities, work expectations, Code of Conduct, and performance expectations.
  • Hire staff, students, and volunteers in consultation with the PI.
  • Provide initial, semi-annual, quarterly, and impromptu training to ensure protocol compliance.
  • Conduct performance evaluations (formal written evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months for new hires and annually for existing staff) and students, in collaboration with the PI.
  • Delegate project-related work effectively, especially during staff vacations or sickness.
  • Lead weekly team meetings, conduct daily check-ins, and meet individually with staff, students, and volunteers regularly.
  • Solicit feedback from project teams and conduct regular quality assessments and improvements.
  • Follow protocols and SOPs to lead by example.
Budget Management
  • Monitor and track expenses to ensure spending does not exceed allocated budgets.
  • Set up budgets and processes for various payments, e.g., invoices, participant compensations, mileage, event exhibits, travel reimbursement.
  • Verify accuracy of all payment requests, e.g., invoices, participant payments, submitted hours of work, mileage reimbursement.
  • Meet with the post-award team quarterly to review budget and spending.
Recruitment and Enrollment
  • Work closely with study coordinator(s) to develop and implement recruitment strategies to maintain a pool of potentially eligible participants and meet enrollment targets.
  • Conduct participant screening and advance them through the process timely to prevent loss of interest.
  • Track and monitor screening, enrollment, intervention delivery, data collection, and entry into REDCap.
Intervention Delivery
  • Conduct monthly treatment fidelity checks on each interventionist to ensure compliance with protocols and SOPs.
  • Deliver interventions as needed, following protocols and SOPs, e.g., assist with participant transportation, deliver interventions, assess responses, document sessions.
  • Coordinate activities and care for participants and staff in emergencies.
