Duties & responsibilities:

• Develop and lead a research project in close collaboration with the PI and other lab members.
• Present findings at lab meetings, work in progress meetings, and national/international conferences.
• Innovate new areas of inquiry.
• Contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grants
• Mentor junior lab members and contribute to an overall collaborative and enthusiastic environment for scientific inquiry.
• Maintain detailed records of experimental plans and findings.
• Apply for independent funding and contribute to grant proposals submitted by the PI.
• Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

• Demonstrated ability to define, investigate and solve complex problems in biomedical research using established techniques and approaches, and to devise and extend new technologies to obtain answers to complex and difficult scientific questions.
• Skilled in molecular biologist/biochemist/virologist with interests in one or more of the fields of virology, molecular biology, cell signaling, and protein biochemistry.
• Excellent organizational/record-keeping skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic for science.
