- Oversee the daily experimental procedures of all the ongoing projects in the assigned labs to ensure all diagnostic testing and lab activities comply with regulatory quality control and safety programs.
- Supervise the experiments and technical procedures carried out by students and staff.
- Assist PIs in developing and testing new experimental procedures and techniques.
- Maintain good working order/repairs of equipment.
- Perform, evaluate, and facilitate the experimental work and data analysis in the lab.
- Maintain lab in compliance with federal and institutional regulatory standards.
- Ensure that lab personnel are compliant with regulatory requirements and that labs are compliant with all relevant standards.
- Writes SOPs and implements policies in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Carry-out training in fire safety, chemical safety, and coordinate safety with the Occupational Health Department.
- Work with PIs to develop strategic and operational plans for the lab spaces assigned.
- Partner with other functional areas and departmental leadership for needs assessment, process improvements, recommended solutions and implementation of programs/initiatives.
- Manage resource requests for leadership.
- Oversee lab inventory and justify purchases to department administration.
- Allocate resources to acquire all necessary equipment and supplies for a smooth operation of the entire lab.
- Develop and implement lab policies to improve efficiency and oversee the availability of equipment and supplies for the work of all lab personnel.
- Responsible for hiring new personnel, adjusting workloads to meet the needs of the lab, and ensuring that all personnel are properly trained in chemical safety, NHP safety, and general lab safety.
- Approve time and vacation requests, adds personnel to the protocol.
- Provide feedback, incentives, performance analysis for all personnel and ensure a cohesive, professional atmosphere with attention to diversity, inclusions and equity.
