POSITION TITLE: Medical Detectives Instructor - Project Lead the Way/GATEWAY (6-8)
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper licensure through the Arkansas Department of
Education, Business licensure or willingness to get a business licensure is preferred, along with classroom teaching experience
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs
School Board policies
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Work collaboratively with instructional teams (content and grade-level interdisciplinary teams) within a Professional Learning Community.
* Implement a variety of effective, research-based instructional strategies consistently to engage learners with the essential learning standards (Response to Instruction and Intervention).
* Design instructional plans with attention to individual student abilities and interests.
* Monitor and assess student progress frequently, using both formative and summative assessments, and provide progress reports as requested.
* Adjust instruction within the classroom to meet the needs of all learners, re-teaching when needed and extending learning for others (Tier I & II).
* Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between students and teachers, as well as student to student, while using effective procedures to support all learners.
* Refer students for services as provided by the District (ESL, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, counseling, health services, etc.).
* Effectively implement district initiatives.
* Maintain consistent and timely parent communication using appropriate structures and resources.
* Meet or exceed professional responsibilities and behavior expectations.
PLTW/GATEWAY Grades 6-8 FUNCTIONS:
* Must be core-trained for Medical Detectives or be willing to attend the required core training. Summer training dates will be shared with candidates. In addition to the summer training. Expenses will be funded through the school district.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
* Support and promote the district's mission, vision, values and the implementation of the strategic plan.
* Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators and supervisors.
* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
* Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
* Serve on committees as assigned.
* Remain current on evidence-based instructional practices in education.
* Other duties as assigned.
