Arlington Free Clinic is Hiring a Dentist Near Arlington, VA

Make a difference in the lives of hundreds of underserved Arlington, Virginia residents by joining our dental team. Arlington Free Clinic (AFC) is a community-based nonprofit organization committed to advancing health equity by providing free, whole-person healthcare for our neighbors who would otherwise lack access. We offer comprehensive services onsite including primary and specialty care, behavioral health, and dental care. Our core values define the spirit with which we carry out our work and include respect, integrity, equity and inclusion, innovation, compassion, collaboration, and passion. 

We are looking for someone who enjoys working independently and collaboratively as part of a team and already has experience with or is excited about working in a safety-net clinic. This is a part time position working 32 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic and advanced dental procedures, including simple to complex extractions, restorative, root canals therapy (including molars), establishing treatment plans, and managing dental emergencies
  • Develop treatment plans in close coordination with patients and dental team members.
  • Prescribe medications for dental problems, including pain medications or antibiotics.
  • Perform all procedures of general dentistry including but not limited to dentures, bridges, night guards and crowns, using digital technology for many of these procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures such as x-rays.
  • Keep timely and accurate records of the oral health of patients and the treatments provided using clinic’s electronic health record systems.
  • Serve on Oral Health Integration Team to enhance clinic-wide practices towards comprehensive, connected, and patient-centered care. 
  • Participate in community-based outreach and education regarding oral healthcare and general preventive health strategies.

Qualifications:

  • D.D.S. or DMD degree with Virginia license and DEA.
  • Strong written skills and ability to keep detailed records.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dental procedures, tools, and diagnostics.
  • Experience in the use of digital technology (intraoral scanner, 3-D printing labs, intraoral sensors) to allow for optimal efficiency in provision of care.
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPPA, OSHA) and adherence to these and all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills; demonstrates professional and courteous demeanor with patients.
  • Commitment to quality patient care and enjoy educating patients in dental health.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare databases and applications.
  • Ability to manage an efficient, timely schedule that allows AFC to maximize patient access to oral healthcare.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred but not required.

This is an excellent position for an individual who is looking to make a difference in the lives of our patient population. This position offers excellent benefits including health and dental insurance, life insurance coverage, flexible spending plan, 401(k) retirement plan, ten paid holidays, paid time off (PTO), sick leave and free parking. Additionally, participation in the Virginia State Loan Repayment Program may be available to qualified individuals. The program is designed to assist qualifying Virginia dentists to pay toward student loans in exchange for 12 months of service with a safety-net clinic. 

Members of the dental team are required to follow AFC’s COVID-19 protocols which may change depending on public health recommendations. Dental staff must use required PPE in accordance with clinics policies and practices in response to patient needs, public health conditions, best practices for sanitary patient care (e.g., qualifying mask, surgical mask, gloves, gown) AFC provides the required PPE and air filtering equipment. All Employees of the AFC must be fully vaccinated and have received at least one booster shot.
