Role And PurposeThe Director of the Center for Visual and Performing Arts is to direct and manage operations for the Center and to develop policies, budgets, and guidelines for the opening and continued operations of the CVPA. QualificationsEducation/Certification:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university is required.
Experience
At least five (5) years of successful experience with public-school performing arts operations or adjacent central office leadership experience.
Experience working with event producers, promoters, and booking agents to attract regional and national events of educational value preferred.
Special Knowledge And Skills
Demonstrated mastery of operations for hosting both performing and visual arts events at a professional level.
Strong oral and written communication skills with a background in basic computer functions
Ability to organize, manage, and make recommendations and evaluations concerning personnel, budget, and facilities.
Strong public relations and interpersonal skills
Strong leadership skills
Major Responsibilities And DutiesI. INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT
Provide support for scheduling professional development opportunities.
II. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATE
Develop programs and practices, keep district staff informed, and make responsible recommendations to the Director of Fine Arts.
Maintain excellent work environment and collegial relationships with all entities.
III. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT
Develop planning activities and implement programs collaboratively with staff to ensure the attainment of the department mission and overall improvement efforts.
Help ensure program additions and implementation processes do not negatively affect those programs and systems which currently exist.
IV. ADMINISTRATION AND FISCAL/FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Create and maintain a strategic plan for the center, develop procedures, and oversee HR functions, including hiring, evaluation, and oversight.
Coordinate with security, facilities, and other district staff to maintain and upkeep the facility, including performance halls, multipurpose rooms, classroom studios, the gallery, and all public spaces.
Manage marketing and promotion for performance series events.
Managed the development of shared use agreements, rental agreements, and contracts for both internal and external use of the facility.
Develop a plan to maximize utilization, prioritizing Arlington ISD student use.
Prepare and oversee the program budget.
Work in tandem with the Legal department in the negotiation of contracts and settlements.
Maintain high visibility with outside stakeholders, including the board of trustees, the City of Arlington, and significant arts groups in Arlington and beyond.
Work closely with Arlington ISD departments to ensure controlled access to the facility.
Maintain excellent relationships with the Professional Development Center staff and our partners in the adjacent Athletics Center.
Work closely with the lead administrator(s) for the school at the CVPA to ensure security measures and building management adhere to district policy regarding student protection.
Work closely with the Fine Arts Department to offer district-level operational efficiencies for other venues and campuses within Arlington ISD.
Work closely with the Assistant Superintendent of Administration and/or Director of Fine Arts on CVPA-adjacent district operations, contracting, and events.
V. STUDENT MANAGEMENT
Encourage and promote proper student management when applicable.
VI. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Plan, coordinate, and conduct district-wide events and activities related to the Center.
Seek support and coordination of visual and performing arts programs with the community.
VII. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT
Stay current with K-12 Fine Arts developments at the local, state, and national levels.
Actively pursue opportunities for life-long learning and professional growth.
Participate in professional organizations, attend professional development activities, and apply new learning to improve job performance.
Model advanced/interactive technology use in meetings and training.
Viii. Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise and manage staff and support personnel for the Center, including 3rd party staff.
