Arlington ISD is Hiring a Preventative Maintenance Vehicle Technician Near Arlington, TX
Primary Purpose
Contribute to the safe and efficient operation of District Fleet vehicles by performing Preventative Maintenance and basic routine repairs
Skills And Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required
Obtain Class B CDL within 90 days of employment
Must maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the District insurance policy
One year of general labor experience in vehicle maintenance or any other equivalent experience or training demonstrating ability to perform the specified duties of this position
Knowledge of methods and techniques of general maintenance and repair related to gas, diesel and propane engine and vehicle service
Equipment Used
Power and hand tools, hydraulic lift and floor jacks and other shop tools related to general maintenance and repair of diesel, propane and gasoline engines and vehicle servicing
Working Conditions
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, diesel fumes, toxic and caustic chemicals and outdoor weather conditions
Frequent moving or lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds, standing long periods, stooping, bending, climbing ladders, pulling and reaching overhead
Flexibility to work day or night as departmental needs dictate
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Checks fluids of all buses and light duty District vehicles and top off as necessary
Perform oil and transmission services on light and heavy duty vehicles
Change/rotate tires, wheels and repairs flats
Inspect entire vehicle for worn or defective parts and record any discrepancies according to the District Preventative Maintenance Guidelines
Ensure work area is clean and in an orderly condition
Perform progressive complex maintenance/repair procedures through training under mechanic supervision
Perform other duties as requested by the Shop Foreman, Transportation Director or Transportation Fleet Manager
