Summary

  • The Live Events Intern will…
    1. Work on graphics and different elements for both the ESPN and KnightVision Broadcasts
    2. Help with the setup and breakdown of the broadcast gear 
    3. Assist with making creative videos to be played on the live streams
    4. Cut highlights for games
    5. Work as a member of the production staff on gameday 
  • This is a Hybrid Role, meaning you will have the ability to complete some of your tasks from home but will also have the chance to come on post to work.

Scope of Impact

    1. Players, Coaches, and Personnel at a prominent Division 1 Athletics Department
    2. Work within a small department responsible for all video needs for Army Athletics
  • You’ll get the opportunity to…
    1. Learn how to setup and build Live Events gear (Tricasters, Cables, Cameras, etc)
    2. Assist with running a Live Webshow (This Week in Army Football)
    3. Assist with the Department’s YouTube channel
    4. Build and Run graphics during programs
    5. Cut videos
    6. Operate cameras
    7. Sit in on live press conferences and have the opportunity to ask questions to coaches and players within a professional environment
  • Working with quick turnarounds

Level of Decision Making

  • The position will work in lockstep with the Assistant Director of Live Events and Video Services
  • Decision making will be made by the Assistant Director with the tasks being aided and completed by this position

Success Factors

Success in this position will be evaluated by the knowledge gained by the intern as well as performance evaluated by the supervisor. This position will be a success if the person in it feels they gained knowledge and experience beneficial to their career goals. As well as the Supervisor seeing development from the intern.

Essential Functions 

This position will work primarily with the Live Broadcasts at Army equating to 100

  • 25% - Equipment Setup/Break Down before and after events
  • 25% - Pregame Production Work; Building graphics, essential videos, etc
  • 50% - Gameday Operation; Camera Operation, Replay Operation, GFX Operation, Commentating

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

Perform duties in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment. Must be able to handle the physical demands of training sessions, recruiting events, and games.

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with cadets to enhance their performance on the field. Must be able to exchange accurate information with cadets.
  • Frequently moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds across campus for various events.
  • Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required Qualifications

  • Able to move equipment ranging from 15-50 lbs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using broadcast equipment
    1. Replay (3Play)
    2. GFX (Livetext/AJT)
    3. Tricasters (NewTek)
    4. Cameras (Sony, Panasonic, Canon)

Additional Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.
  • Must be eligible to work on a military installation.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
