Job Description

The Position
The Lab Assistant will perform basic study support activities, as well as clerical and administrative duties to support In Vivo Pharmacology projects and research.
Responsibilities
- Performs Routine Animal Handling and Restraint
- Ear tags animals and updates study logs.
- Regroup and sort animals based on study design
- Measures and records animal body weights
- Prepares / Assists with In Vivo Activities
- Prepares and aliquots buffers and solutions following standard operating procedures
- Labels tubes for blood and tissue collection
- Prepares dosing syringes
- Shaves animals in preparation for dosing/surgery
- Euthanizes animals as needed following standard operating procedures
- Centrifuges and aliquots blood samples
- Organizes study samples and delivers samples to appropriate location for analysis
- Communicates scheduling issues/changes to the In Vivo Pharmacology Project Manager
- Assist in the preparation and review of files for In Vivo studies
- Update study files and communicate study changes to the In Vivo Pharmacology
- Ensure In Vivo Pharmacology study files are accurate and complete
- Provide daily support to various areas within the In Vivo Pharmacology team, (i.e. aliquoting blood samples, organizing study materials)
- Update In Vivo study tracker files
- Record and circulate department meeting updates, as needed
- Performs other duties as needed
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree & some relevant experience (or High School Diploma & 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite programs (i.e. Excel, Word)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
- Ability to adapt to changes in priority and/or studies
- Ability to work in fast paced environment
- Experience working in an animal laboratory
- Knowledge of In Vivo procedures and practices
Preferred:
- Background in animal husbandry, restraint and handling
- Must demonstrate a commitment to quality care of laboratory animals
