Job Title: Director of Development

Location: Brighton, MA - Hybrid onsite/wfh: 80/20

Artisans Asylum is a vibrant 52,000 sf makerspace fostering creativity, community, and skill development through STEM and arts activities and workshops. We provide a collaborative environment where creatives explore their passions and bring ideas to life.

Position Overview:

Artisans Asylum seeks a proactive, dynamic Director of Development to elevate our profile with donors, community partners, and corporate sponsors. This role involves accountability to a 30-60-90 day, then quarterly performance plan. The ideal candidate will be an outgoing relationship-builder that is responsible for all partnerships and fundraising. You will identify prospects and build a pipeline of talent that will help accelerate the organization’s financial growth. The candidate should be familiar with the individual donor, corporate, and foundation funding landscape in Boston, with a track record of securing gifts for STEM and arts initiatives. Salary: $70-80k with a performance bonus. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to increase visibility and funding.
  • Successfully execute our 30-60-90 day, then quarterly plan.
  • Cultivate relationships with prospective donors, community partners, and corporate sponsors.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to ensure a consistent pipeline of grants.
  • Boost the organization’s grant win ratio through strategic initiatives.
  • Enhance in-house technology to support the volunteer-run grant writing committee.
  • Craft compelling marketing and communication materials.
  • Represent Artisans Asylum at public events and community meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising with a proven track record.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven experience in cultivating and managing donor relationships.
  • Technologically savvy, with experience improving fundraising systems.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools like Bloomerang and other CRM/ database management.
  • Take ownership of fundraising events
  • Act as a public representative for the organization
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams
