Organization Description

Artists ReEnvisioning Tomorrow Inc “ART Inc”, founded in 2018 by Jonathon and Nikki Romain, is Peoria’s foremost arts education non-profit organization. ART Inc provides arts education opportunities to nearly 500 students and teaching artists each year. The staff, board, volunteers, and teaching artists of ART Inc work tirelessly to nurture a vibrant community through arts and education, foster artistic excellence, entrepreneurship, and bring all people together for a powerful, shared experience regardless of their ability to pay.

Position Objective: ART Inc is in search of a Facilities Coordinator. The Facilities Coordinator is adaptable, hard-working, and is responsible for providing exceptional janitorial and maintenance services. The Facilities Coordinator maintains cleanliness and upkeep of the building, assisting with various facilities projects and any ongoing servicing of the building. The Facilities Coordinator will assist with event set-up, tear down, and the overall execution of various programs and organization functions.

Job Functions:

  • Collaborate and coordinate with Office Manager to maintain building and facilities functions.
  • Report any repairs, maintenance, or mechanical problems and recommend plan of action.
  • Perform routine building, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor, repair and replace any plumbing issues (such as water lines, toilets, faucets, drains, etc.).
  • Coordinate and schedule contractor inspections and repairs when needed.
  • Maintain lawn and grounds; perform landscaping and snow removal including the parking lots around the Romain Center building.
  • Investigate complaints and prioritize maintenance work orders.
  • Manage maintenance work orders and track work performed including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, and asphalt work.
  • Assist in the operation of property equipment and systems as directed by management and third-party contractors.
  • Perform preventative maintenance duties including routine servicing and tune ups for all equipment.
  • Provide guidance to service and construction contractors in the performance of their duties as needed.
  • Establish and maintain schedules for routine maintenance, coordinate maintenance with contract vendors pursuant to the project contracts and leases.
  • Remove debris including pallets, papers, and trash.
  • Ensure all electrical rooms are clear of debris and without storage.
  • Conduct weekly inspection of the property, noting any maintenance or mechanical problems requiring repairs.
  • Conduct monthly inspection of the property, including walk the roofs, clean all debris, and remove all objects from the roof (i.e., nails, screws, old filters and motors, discarded building materials, etc.).
  • Clean all roof drains and gutters. Observe any deficiencies and advise accordingly.
  • Knows and adheres to all safety procedures; understands and adheres to all OSHA required safety procedures.
  • Participate in staff and safety meetings.
  • Maintenance personnel are on call 24 hours per day to handle emergency repairs. This may be established by schedule if sufficient personnel are available.

Marginal Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the key contact for all building maintenance and cleaning duties.
  • Support the team with projects and events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years related maintenance, facilities, janitorial, or custodial experience.
  • OSHA safety knowledge and application.

  • Ability to manage maintenance and repairs schedules and reporting.

  • Lift up to 50 pounds intermittently.

  • Primarily operates in office and school environments.
  • Occasionally works near moving and mechanical parts.
  • Occasionally works in high, precarious places such as a roof.
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasionally exposed to electrical wire.
  • Noise level is generally moderate.
