Artiva Biotherapeutics is an immunotherapy company with the ability to produce off-the-shelf, allogeneic NK cell therapies at a massive scale. Our mission is to develop effective, safe and accessible cell therapies for patients with devastating autoimmune diseases and cancers. Our lead program, AlloNK®, is an allogeneic, non-genetically modified NK cell therapy candidate designed to enhance the activity of monoclonal antibodies or NK cell engagers. AlloNK is currently in clinical trials in combination with rituximab for treatment of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in patients with active lupus nephritis and for treatment of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, as well as in combination with Affimed’s innate cell engager AFM13 for the treatment of patients with relapsed/refractory CD30-positive lymphomas.

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Head of Autoimmunity is to provide strategic leadership and direction for our clinical development programs focused on autoimmunity. The Head of Immunology will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute clinical development strategies tailored to autoimmunity programs.
  • Offer clinical guidance and collaborate with the management team to shape and convey corporate strategy.
  • Oversee Contract Research Organization (CRO) activities in coordination with team members.
  • Work with diverse stakeholders to evaluate and interpret data accurately.
  • Provide comprehensive support for clinical studies across drug development phases.
  • Facilitate the selection of trial investigators and clinical sites.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of resources for clinical trials, including managing external entities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.
  • Collaborate internally and externally to devise clinical strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Foster collaborations with key stakeholders, including academic thought leaders, investigators, and cooperative groups
  • Act as the primary ambassador for Artiva with respect to our autoimmune programs, interfacing with external audiences such as investors, medical communities, regulatory bodies, and industry collaborators.
  • Represent the company in clinical and scientific forums related to our autoimmune programs, contributing expertise to drug development discussions.
  • Stay updated on advancements in immunology to inform pipeline strategies.

Requirements:

  • Medical degree with board certification in rheumatology.
  • Over 10 years of clinical development experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals, specializing in autoimmunity.
  • Substantial management experience in clinical leadership roles.
  • Deep understanding of the competitive landscape and research pipelines in autoimmunity.
  • Proficiency in FDA regulations and guidelines, with a track record of successful regulatory submissions.
  • Demonstrated results-driven attitude and effective leadership qualities.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying scientific and medical information internally and externally.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence for fostering collaboration.
  • Analytical mindset with adept problem-solving abilities and flexibility in prioritization.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Additional information:

This position can be based remotely; however, preference is given to candidates located in San Diego, Bay Area or Seattle.
