ELECTRONICS APPLICATION TECHNICIAN

DEPARTMENT: TECHNICAL SERVICE

Organization: This position reports to the Business Process Manager

Accountability: Responsible for performing product and product installation review functions within the company at customer facilities. Product review includes new product launch evaluations, customer installation audits and prototype installation of established ASA product. Detailed reporting and documentation are required for product installation reviews and prototype installations. Full understanding of 12-volt wiring diagrams, commercial vehicle harnessing and installation of aftermarket products. Responsible for interacting with all customers, internal and external, with professionalism and integrity. These functions should be performed in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives, with specific attention to quality and adherence to deadlines.

Responsibilities:

Customer prototype installations / application reviews:

• Completion of customer application reviews, including new installation audits, with attention to adherence to product requirements, electrical requirements, and generally accepted best practice.
• Ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the reporting on applications reviews back to customers. Establish and maintain high standards for all processes.
• Responses should be provided with professionalism and integrity.
• Completion of all necessary records and reports in a timely fashion.

Technical Bulletin (and support materials) creation and maintenance:

• Create Technical Bulletins ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in regular communication with customers and ASA Customer Service.
• Maintain the accuracy and efficiency of Technical Bulletins through regular review. 

Phone / E-mail Tech Support:

• Provide first response to our ASA Phone Reps. 
• Be eager to assist with the toughest technical issues with ASA Phone Reps and able to clearly assist the customer directly either over the phone or if necessary and feasible in person.
• Provide training to our ASA Phone Reps. Building their skills and training them on our newest product, applications and troubleshooting techniques.

Product Quality Analysis:

• May be called on to evaluate product failures to determine root cause and recommend course of action. 
• Product improvements and installation procedure improvements should be recommended to ensure we maintain high quality products and sound installation procedures.

General:

• Communicate with all company personnel in accordance with job function, including management peers.
• Maintain personal discipline, self-motivation to stay productive.
• Assist with assembly, wiring and shipment of company show displays
• Perform other functions, as required by the Tech Service Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Education:

• College Graduate or equivalent experience level (minimum)
• Technical Degree (preferred) with a 12-volt focus

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of technical experience (5 preferred)

Travel Requirements: Up to 20-25% during peak season

Knowledge / Skills:

• Must have full understanding of 12-volt wiring diagrams, commercial vehicle harnessing and installation of aftermarket products.
