Summary :

The Health Insurance Navigator supports the Care Ring mission of empowering individuals with limited resources to establish and maintain good health by connecting eligible clients with access to comprehensive, affordable medical care.

Responsibilities :

• Assist individuals and families in enrolling in health insurance plans through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace
• Provide education and guidance to clients on the ACA and available health insurance options, including Medicaid
• Educate patients on the benefits of health insurance and guide patients to navigate and access available coverage options
• Collaborate with community partners to promote access to care and enrollment in health insurance
• Maintain accurate records of all client interactions and enrollment activities

Qualifications and Education Requirements :

• Bachelor's degree in health-related fields or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of barriers to health care for the low-income and / or uninsured population
• Certified Application Counselor or successfully obtain certification within 90 days of hire
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe PDF
• Bilingual (Spanish) required - written and verbal
• The Covid-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment
• Experience working with a diverse population preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel to outreach and enrollment events, must have reliable transportation
• Must have a valid driver's license and proper car insurance.

Preferred Skills :

• Knowledge of healthcare systems, medical terminology, and available resources
• Knowledge of Medicaid and health insurance marketplace products eligibility criteria and benefits, including experience with using healthcare.gov.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to effectively collaborate with team members and clients virtually and in-person settings
