Ascendance Truck Centers is Hiring a Body Shop-Technician (Class: N/A) Near Palmyra, IN

The Body Shop Technician provides repairs to truck bodies and straightens vehicle frames for the customer’s equipment which shall be of the highest possible standard of quality.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: (This is a list of essential job duties but is not intended to be exhaustive. Other duties may be added or removed at management discretion. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. All duties listed may not be required at all locations.)
  • Disassemble and reassemble fabricated truck/trailer parts using power tools and cutting torch
  • Bolt or weld replacement parts in position using power tools and cutting torch
  • Straighten bent frames
  • Use special equipment to restore damaged metal frames and body sections back to original specifications
  • Identify components that need new parts or need to be replaced; place orders as necessary
  • Properly fill depressions with body filler and ensure a quality repair
  • Daily vacuuming of paint booth and spraying down of the paint booth floor to aid in keeping dirt out of paint booth
  • Maintain and wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners and other hazardous materials.
  • Understand and keep abreast of all federal, state and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS /TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Equivalent amount of work experience may be considered in lieu of schooling.
2. One to four years body shop experience strongly preferred.
3. Unrestricted Driver’s License – Technician must be able to safely drive vehicles around the location property as well as pull vehicles into the shop bays.
4. CDL A or B License beneficial, assistance will be given to obtain if willing. (Some locations may require a CDL)
5. Operate power and hand tools and other equipment used in servicing vehicles.
6. Move freely throughout the service area, including continuous physical effort; climbing in/out of truck cabs, underneath trucks, bending, walking, manipulating tools/equipment, etc.
7. Written (for documenting work) and verbal communication skills.
8. Build and maintain positive relationships with co-workers and customers.
9. Read and interpret work orders, service information and wiring diagrams.
10. Perform basic math calculations.
WORK CONTACTS:
Internal contacts will consist of co-workers, immediate and departmental managers to exchange and provide information as well as to present and discuss information and/or issues.
External contacts may consist of discussing repairs with customers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
This position has no direct supervisory duties.
