They are seeking a skilled and experienced Facility Safety Officer/ Director of Facilities to join their dynamic team. Position Summary: The Facility Safety Office/ Director of Facilities is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, visitors, and contractors within the facility. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs and policies to comply with local, state, and federal regulations, aiming to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Provide safety training and education to employees, contractors, and visitors to promote a culture of safety awareness.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Maintain and update safety records, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training documentation.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments to develop and implement safety improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement of safety programs.
  • Prepare and present safety reports and recommendations to senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Facility Safety Officer or in a similar safety management role, preferably within the transportation or maritime industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the maritime or transportation industry.
  • Professional certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, OSHA).
