Purpose of the Position:
The after school teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate afterschool program in accordance with the mission of Ascension Catholic School.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure children are supervised at all times
• Establish routines and provide positive guidance
• Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable
• Implement positive disciple when required
• Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
• Interact with children at all times; when students are present; attention must be focused on them – not other adults or activities.
• Oversee homework time, snack time, and planned activities.
• Set up activities and materials before each day’s program and clean up before leaving each day.
• Report in writing any injuries on the Accident/Incident Report.
• Be familiar with and follow all Ascension policies and procedures
• Communicate daily with the Assistant Director and Director
• Maintain daily, open communication with parents
• Be knowable of and adhere to State Licensing Regulations
• Attend continuing education trainings to complete required hours
• Maintain first aid and CPR training
• Maintain a daily attendance sheet with arrival and departure times
• Implement the lesson plan and activities for the day
• Report to assistant director any problems which may occur with the children
• Greet parents and children by name
• Help with general housekeeping tasks

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
