  • Schedule: Full time 37.5 hours per week 12:00pm - 8:00pm; every other weekend

  • Location: Lewiston, NY
  • Salary: $15.56 - $23.57 per hour
Actual compensation offered will vary based on factors including applicable licenses, certifications, education, experience, location, qualifications and comparison with associates in similar roles.

ResponsibilitiesPerform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment of the Facility. Perform regular maintenance checks and follows the Prevent Maintenance Program of all equipment and supplies within the Facility as assigned by the Director of Facilities. Adhere to Facility Standards of Conduct and practices the Core Values of Service of the Poor, Reverence, Integrity, Wisdom, Creativity and Dedication. Represent OLP accurately and honestly. Acts with integrity and in the best interest of OLP. Identify instances of non-compliance and takes appropriate action, including reporting violations of the CRP. Adheres to Facility policy or regulations. Business relationships are conducted in the best interest of OLP, free of gifts, favors or other improper inducements.
The following are essential job accountabilities:
  • Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance checks of the building, grounds and Facility. (18%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Insures that the Facility is maintained to be safe and the environment is clean. Maintains the building in compliance with Federal, State and Local Laws such as OSHA. Exhibits cooperation by being available if needed to report for duty during emergencies. Keeps work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.
  • Resident Relations Performance Criteria - Assures that residents rights to fair and equitable treatment and privacy are followed. Assures that the Facility and its equipment is properly maintained for resident comfort and convenience.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs. Paints and performs minor carpentry and repair work. (17%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - HIPAA Competency- Protects resident's privacy by insuring any items with resident data on them are not left unattended. Replaces burned out light bulbs to include exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and performs environmental service duties in very high places. Follows established policies and procedures concerning infection control when performing maintenance services in isolation rooms and areas. Insures work area(s) are free of hazardous materials, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc. to ensure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
  • Communications Performance Criteria - Reports equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to Director as soon as possible.
  • Collaboration Performance Criteria - Coordinates maintenance work with other departments. Uses care and judgement in using supplies. Requests all supplies through the he Director of Facilities.
  • Maintain the exterior grounds. (8%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Demonstrates the ability to operate equipment according to department and safety guidelines. Reports problem areas to Director of Facilities. Effectively identifies predictable problems. Safety - Demonstrates proper body mechanics and wears appropriate gear for lifting and moving items.
  • Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Insures minor electrical and plumbing work such as switches, receptacles, joints, etc. are accomplished timely.
  • Perform duties of washing windows, elevators and screens inside and outside of the building. (7%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Insures windows are streak-free and clean. Returns equipment to proper location after use, clean and in good condition.
  • Responsible for the routine and preventative maintenance on heating and cooling units. (6%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Maintains units in good working condition. Communications Performance Criteria - Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to the Director of Facilities.
  • Collect refuge and regulated medical waste and disposes of it according to the established policy and procedure. (5%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Infection Control Competency: Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to all infection control procedures including proper hand washing techniques, contact with blood spills and universal precautions.
  • Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Insures all refuge and waste is collected on time and in accordance with Facility policy.
  • Attend all inservices and meetings as required. (5%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Competency: Participates in drills and demonstrates knowledge of Plan for Department. Projects poise, authority, and a positive image. Wears appropriate clothing and accessories, giving proper attention to personal hygiene. Wears Facility ID Badge while on duty. Attends all mandatory inservices. Attends department meetings as required and scheduled.
The following duties may be reassigned:
  • Cleans residents rooms including dusting furniture, woodwork, equipment and dust mop floors. Polishes and cleans fixtures in utility rooms and bathrooms. (5%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Empties and cleans wastes baskets, relines containers and liners. Demonstrates accurate knowledge of chemicals used in performing duties. Collects refuge and regulated medical waste and disposes of it according to the established policy and procedure. Adheres to all safety issues relative to hazardous waste, soiled linen and proper wearing apparel. Maintains residents/employee information confidential at all times.
  • Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Completes job duties within required timeframe, according to established schedules or workflow requirements.
  • Clean residents work areas throughout the Facility including, but not limited to, physical therapy, resident dining area etc. (5%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Maintains confidentiality of all Facility, staff and resident information. Keeps work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.
  • Perform resident discharge cleaning and maintenance which includes beds, bedside stands, overbed tables, drawers and closets, etc. (5%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Follows policy and procedures when cleaning, repairing and disinfecting all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of bathrooms. Insures terminal cleaning procedures of resident and other work area rooms and prepares room for new occupant and accomplished in a timely manner following precaution procedures when indicated. Moves furniture and other heavy objects as required utilizing proper lifting and/or transfer techniques.
  • Wet mops rooms, halls, stairways and public areas. (5%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Maintains Environmental Services equipment in good condition. Properly uses machines to meet Environmental Services requirements such as high/low speed buffers, floor scrubber, carpet extractor, shop vac and vacuum cleaners, etc.
  • Communications Performance Criteria - Reports mechanical failures or repairs needed in building or equipment.
  • Receive requests for supplies manually and through the computer for all departments in the Facility. Selects, delivers and stocks items in prescribed locations. (2%).
  • Communications Performance Criteria - Communicates clearly and tactfully with other departments. Obtains information from user to identify source of problem.
  • Collaboration Performance Criteria - Serves as a resource to other employees. Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working with OLP and Hospital personnel.
  • Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Completes job duties within required timeframe, according to established schedules or workflow requirement.
  • Unload and receive items delivered to Facility and delivers proper items to requisitioning departments and obtains authorized signatures for accepted items. (2%).
  • Collaboration Performance Criteria - Cooperates and coordinates with other departments to ensure smooth flow of materials. Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working with OLP and Hospital personnel. Safety- Demonstrates proper body mechanics and wears appropriate gear for lifting and moving materials.
  • Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Plans all work steps to ensure success; considers time, supplies and support required from other individuals and departments in setting up work plan and completing duties.
  • Record Keeping Performance Criteria - Retrieves and organizes appropriate data from records and files.
  • Move material within Facility or Storage Facility to and from departments by carrying, pushing, rolling or using hand trucks. (2%)
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Maintains established department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs and safety standards. Represents OLP accurately and honestly. Acts with integrity and in the best interest of OLP. Demonstrates Mission of Facility by providing quality care, in a personnel manner with total regard for individual human dignity.
  • Collaboration Performance Criteria - Demonstrates flexibility in working hours and day schedules in order to meet needs of departments.
  • Set up chairs and tables, etc. for special events and folds and stores them after the event.(2%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Conducts job duties in accordance with established departmental policy and safety/sanitation standards.
  • Collaboration Performance Criteria - Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working on any unit. Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Completes job duties within the required timeframe, according to established schedules or workflow requirements.
  • Record Keeping Performance Criteria - Completes logs and records promptly, recording all information that could be pertinent to others.
  • Unpack and sort incoming merchandise; receives product through the computer and manually; prints receiving reports.( 2%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Inspects incoming materials against bill of lading and/or other documents as required.
  • Collaboration Performance Criteria - Insures discrepancies are discussed promptly with the Hospital's Materials Management Staff. Serves as a resource to other employees.
  • Pick up and sort soiled linen from all units. (2%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Uses universal precautions when handling soiled linen.
  • Accurately separates heavily stained or torn garments and routes for re-washing or mending.
  • Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Is able to prioritize work assignments effectively. Keeps work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly. Does not waste time in idle conversation with co-workers.
  • Pack, wrap, box or crate materials to be shipped out of Facility for various reasons. Attaches or encloses proper paperwork. (2%).
  • Application of Knowledge Performance Criteria - Performs job duties with legal and professional regulations and guidelines. Conducts job duties in accordance with departmental standards, insuring that items will not be damaged during shipment.
  • Planning/Timeliness Performance Criteria - Organizes work to complete job tasks in a timely manner. Responds promptly to changes in workload, adjusting assignments as necessary to achieve optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Record Keeping Performance Criteria - Retrieves and organizes appropriate data from records and files.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
RequirementsLicensure / Certification / Registration:
  • Current, Valid Drivers License required
Education:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
Work Experience:
  • Six (6) months related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
