Ascension School is Hiring a Director of Inclusive Education - Ascension School - Oak Park - Vic. IV Near Oak Park, IL

The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic schools serve more than 40,000 students in 154 elementary and high schools in Cook and Lake counties. It is one of the largest private school systems in the United States. Its schools have received 96 Blue Ribbon awards from the U.S. Department of Education over the past 10 years

The Director of Student Services manages support services for exceptional learners and is a member of the leadership team. The director will work with teachers and parents to identify exceptional learners, plan and coordinate interventions, measure growth and request/monitor evaluation and/or services from the public school district when appropriate. The director may also assist in developing school wide academic goals, professional development aligned to goals and facilitate data analysis meetings/workshops.

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee student support programs aimed at enhancing the overall well-being, academic success, and personal development of students.
  • Ensure compliance with special education regulations and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all special education students, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, and other relevant documentation.
  • Implement strategies and programs to address and intervene in behavioral issues among students.
  • Collaborate with school staff, parents, and external resources to support students with behavioral challenges.
  • Collaborate with health professionals to address students' physical and mental health needs.
  • Oversee social/emotional programs (Second Step).
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of students within the school community and external organizations.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Coordinate services for special student populations, such as students with disabilities, English language learners, and gifted students.
  • Use data to assess the effectiveness of student services programs, identify struggling or gifted learners, and make data-driven decisions for improvement.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive school culture.
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for staff related to student services and support.

Experience

Required
  • Familiarity with various disabilities and appropriate instructional strategies and interventions
  • In-depth understanding of special education best practices.
  • State certification or licensure LBS1 or a related field.

Education

Required
  • Masters or better in Education or related field
