Ascentist Healthcare is Hiring an Inpatient RN - Parttime/PRN (Night or Day Shift) Near Leawood, KS

We’re growing and we’re seeking motivated, patient oriented, passionate coworkers to join us. We’re currently seeking a Part-time or PRN Inpatient RN for our Ascentist Hospital in Leawood, KS.
As an Inpatient Nurse at our hospital, you will ensure a positive and quality inpatient experience using the nursing process, medical plan of care and organizational policies, participate in patient and family teaching and provide leadership while working cooperatively with other health care staff.
You'll also perform a variety of tasks in support of daily operations, including but not limited to:
  • Promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization.
  • Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and their families.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to hospital care and therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and regulatory standards.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Plans, coordinates and participates in patient care in accorance with the patient’s needs, physician’s plan of care, standards of care and organizational policies
  • Asseses the patient’s physical, psychological and social needs and sets goals, including discharge planning
  • Communicates pertinent observations and reactions regarding patient to the appropriate staff (Physicians/Director of Surgery)
  • Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; medication administration and storage procedures; and controlled substance regulations.
  • Ensurses accurate, concise, and timely documentation in the patient’s medical records.
  • Recognizes the developmental, educational, understanding level, special needs, and abilities of the patient.
  • Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to the patients.
  • Participates in the economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean, safe manner.
  • Administers medications based on assessed patient needs and physician orders.
  • Assists with or initiates emergency measures for sudden adverse development such as a cardiac arrest, etc.
  • Participates actively in Quality Improvement through staff meetings, nursing committees, etc. and participates in hte Quality Improvement Plan as requested
  • Maintains confidentiality of information concerning patients and hospital personnel.
  • Interacts with patients/families/physicians, vendors in a professional and caring manner.
  • Manages conflict and stress in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Seeks educational opportunities to increase clinical competence and enhance personal growth and completes mandatory classes or in-services relative to job responsibilities at the hospital and to meet continuing education requirements for licensure.
  • Participates in the orientation of new employees.
  • Identifies priorities and cooperates in the smooth operating of the department.
  • Applies nursing process, critical thinking, and judgment to clinical practice.
  • Document care provided or procedures performed accurately on patient records.
  • Provide each patient care in a safe, comfortable and private environment.
  • Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods.
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with established policies and procedures.
  • Participates in department and clinic meetings as well as professional development activities.
  • Understands HIPAA regulations and maintains the strictest confidentiality at all times. Has read and understands the company’s HIPAA Privacy Policy.
  • Complies with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned/necessary.
RequirementsQualified candidates will possess current licensure in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse (RN), a minimum of one year previous work experience in an ambulatory surgery setting, acute care hospital recovery room, or operating room. Other key requirements include:
  • American Heart Association issued BLS (current) and ACLS (within six months of hire date)
  • Demonstrated track record in understanding and maintaining infection control, administering medication, health promotion and maintenance
  • Clean background check
  • Demonstrates proven verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and understand patients, asking questions as appropriate, and interrupting as needed to gain clarification
  • Proven track record in reliability and dependability
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrates effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with providers, patients, and team members.
  • Demonstrates friendly, personal, and timely customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function independently without supervision while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in an ever changing environment.
  • Proven track record in effectively planning, organizing and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain a positive, courteous demeanor with all patients and colleagues
  • Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email (Outlook or Gmail)
  • Demonstrates understanding of and experience using an electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use general office equipment including phones, fax machines, copiers and other similar office technology on a regular basis
  • Demonstrated ability
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of all internal and external communications to speak, read, write and understand English, as the primary language of patients calling and requesting information and/or services from the organization.
  • Willingness and ability to assist patient and staff with positioning and/or transferring patients, which may include lifting, pulling, and/or pushing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Understanding of and ability to comply with all regulatory requirements including OSHA, HIPAA, Ascentist Policies and Procedures and Ascentist Employee Handbook
