Position OverviewAs a Platforms Engineer specializing in Azure, you will play a pivotal role in the cloud infrastructure solutions for Ascot. Leveraging your expertise in Azure, Terraform, PowerShell, and Azure platforms, you will design robust and scalable cloud environments. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborate with talented professionals, and make a meaningful impact in the rapidly evolving world of cloud technology. The Platforms Engineer will have a solid background working within a busy IT team; and experience in designing and implementing technical solutions, and supporting of servers, desktops, and operating systems. The Platforms Engineer must have strong experience in technical troubleshooting and problem-solving. Depending on projects and tasks, the individual will be required to be available for queries during out-of-office hours and partake in the on-call rota.
Responsibilities
  • Support server production, DR, and cloud platforms.
  • Design, deploy, and manage Azure-based cloud infrastructure solutions according to best practices and client requirements.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Terraform and PowerShell to streamline provisioning, configuration, and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess project requirements, provide technical expertise, and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure to ensure performance, reliability, and security.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in cloud technology, continuously enhancing your skills and knowledge.
  • Network, system, hardware support & troubleshooting.
  • Incident resolution & escalation point for Service Desk and other internal teams.
  • Provide support for various application platforms.
  • Establish proactive monitoring & optimal network performance.
  • Deliver a variety of Technology Projects.
  • Active involvement in all stages of planning of initiatives.
  • Implement & contribute to the best security practices and set standards.
  • Managing the lifecycle – from design to build to deployment.
  • Design workflows and document processes.
  • Follow the Change Management process and maintain responsibility for Corporate Server Infrastructure changes, including the planning and implementation of updates.
  • Plan and recommend enhancements ensuring that IT capacity meets current and future business requirements in a cost-effective manner
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issue
  • Keep the estate evergreen by ensuring the latest application and security updates are deployed across servers and devices.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of Azure and experience delivering Azure-based solutions - technical experience within Azure AD, Azure Virtual Desktop, Azure Storage and other M365/Cloud-based services.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies, including enterprise or hosting provider services SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS Solutions
  • Knowledge of Azure Team Services
  • Experience with provisioning a virtualized cloud service environment
  • Knowledge of cloud system engineering principles and considerations
  • Experience with PowerShell and troubleshooting PowerShell ISE
  • Knowledge of IT security risks
  • Working knowledge of the following technologies would be beneficial.
    • SharePoint Online
    • Service Management Automation (SMA) and/or Windows Azure Stack
    • Azure Foundation (Subscription, Network, Compute, Features)
    • Modern Cloud Application Architectures
    • Cloud Management and Optimization (Appropriately sizing, automating scaling, tagging, policies)
  • Hyper V cluster environments.
  • Active Directory 2016
  • Working knowledge of ITIL disciplines
  • Ability to maximize knowledge transfer through the production of high-quality process documentation
  • Experience with Palo Alto firewalls and technology such as Prisma and Panorama.

CompensationActual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, and other forms of discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
