Job Description Summary
Teach and assist Associate Degree Nursing and Practical Nursing students in a skills lab environment..
Duties
Teach and assist first semester ADN and PN students in a skills lab environment. Educator must maintain professional certifications, competency in the area of assigned responsibility and knowledge of best practices; must have current knowledge of nursing practice for the RN and LPN, seek opportunities for professional development, and perform duties as assigned by Department Chairperson, Associate Chairperson, or Clinical Coordinator. These duties may include mandatory orientation sessions on campus.
Adjunct Clinical Faculty will be evaluated utilizing the National League for Nursing Core Competencies of Nurse Educators (http://www.nln.org/profdev/corecompetencies.pdf).
Minimum Requirements
1. Hold a current unrestricted license to practice as an RN in NC.
2. Hold a baccalaureate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
3. Minimum of two years patient care experience within the past five years as a registered nurse.
4. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification for healthcare providers (certifications obtained online are not accepted; copy of certification must be submitted upon hire).
Preferred Qualifications
1. MSN with concentration in nursing education.
2. Teaching experience at the college level.
Special Instructions to Applicants
1. The NCBON mandates that, within three years of hire, the adjunct clinical instructor in nursing must complete either: 45 hours of CEU’s in Nursing Education (must be pre-approved by the NCBON) OR an NCBON approved certificate program (list may be found at: http://www.ncbon.com/myfiles/downloads/programs-faculty-rule-0318a-teaching-learning-requirements.pdf OR 9 semester hours of education coursework (per the NCBON Administrative Rule 21 NCAC 36.0318).
3. Upon submitting your online application, an unofficial transcript must be uploaded to your application for the related degree(s) listed in the “Minimum Requirements” and/or “Preferred Qualifications” section of the job posting. The unofficial transcript must list the individual courses taken. Diplomas will not be considered in lieu of an unofficial transcript.
4. If selected for hire, official sealed transcripts from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Department of Education or official transcript evaluation (required if the degree was obtained outside the US) from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) recognized organization, are required to be received a minimum of two business weeks before the first day of work. Failure to comply may result in revocation of the job offer.
