The Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing and Director of Graduate Nursing Programs provides direct oversight of the graduate nursing degree programs of the Schar College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The Director of Graduate Nursing Programs has a work assignment with dedicated time to provide administrative, resource, curriculum and evaluation oversight for each accredited graduate degree program. This individual works effectively and cooperatively with other University departments, including admissions personnel to oversee recruitment and admissions of students into graduate nursing programs.

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing and Director of Graduate Nursing Programs is also a member of the faculty and is appointed to standing faculty committees. The individual in this position is involved in the development and evaluation of graduate nursing programs and students and is actively involved in leadership, teaching, guidance, and advising of graduate students. Scholarly work and professional service are also essential aspects of an assistant/associate professor's work.

* Promote and maintain collaborative relationships between college and clinical agencies that support graduate nursing programs.

* Develop and maintain a program of research that includes review of texts and articles, implementation of research, writing, editing, and presenting.

* Engage in other scholarly activities such as reviewing texts and articles or serving in a consulting capacity based on expertise.

* Maintain involvement in professional associations by attending and participating in professional meetings and accreditation related conferences.

* Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

* An earned doctoral degree in nursing

* Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio

* Official transcripts for all degrees held verifying academic preparation and specialization

* Two (2) years educational experience as a nursing faculty member and/or three (3) years in a clinical position involving teaching and/or administration

* At least three (3) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse

* Demonstrated evidence of teaching and/or clinical excellence, scholarly activity, professional leadership, and community service

* Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills

* Documented evidence of excellent interpersonal skills at previous position or rank

Preferred Qualifications

* Prior experience in an administrative nursing role in higher education or in clinical practice

* Prior experience as a graduate level instructor/professor

Physical Demands

* Requires the ability to work indoors in a moderately stressful environment and the ability to adapt to changes in workload

* Physical requirements may include frequent sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing/pulling, and twisting
