The Human Resource and Learning Specialist performs a complex and diverse range of Human Resource generalist tasks within the Office of Human Resources including managing and delivering projects within the office.

This position will be based onsite in our Bethesda, MD office, and the employee in this role will be working in a hybrid environment, consistent with Association-wide ASHP policies applicable to HQ-based employees.

The base salary for this position is $75,000-$85,000. ASHP offers a comprehensive benefits plan. You may view more details regarding our benefits on our careers page.

What You'll Be Doing :

Projects : Coordinates and implements annual and special projects. Establishes and maintains appropriate processes and files to initiate project steps throughout the year.

Monitors deadlines, prioritizes tasks, assures steps are met in proper sequence and maintains ongoing communication with staff regarding status and approvals.

  • Policies : Helps maintain and update all ASHP policies working closely with the Chief Human Resource Officer and Vice President.
  • Job Descriptions : Reviews, updates, and maintains job descriptions for every role ensuring they are up to date and accurate.

Maintains organizational charts and ensure they are up to date.

  • Training : Create short training modules for staff and help develop a robust onboarding program.
  • Documents : Responsible for updating and managing various documents that need to be updated regularly and ensuring the external and internal website is up to date.
  • Offboarding : Manages and implements the process for offboarding for employees and collaborates internally with HR staff to ensure that the employee experience is superior.
  • Communications : Coordinates and implements all HR communication so that the voice of HR is professional and polished.
  • Payroll : Assists with maintaining information all tax information on each state and corresponds with the correct entities to ensure all states are up to date on payments.

Works to set up and close state accounts as needed. Serves as secondary resource to process payroll when needed.

Generalist : Effectively learns the role of HR functions to perform other HR duties as needed.

What You Bring to ASHP :

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • SHRM-CP certified (preferred)
  • Requires 3-6 years of prior related work experience in Human Resources and Training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to present information in a clear, concise manner to employees.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Advanced software skills are required, as well as Internet research abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of applications specific to the function.
  • Experience training employees.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgment within understood policies and procedures.
  • Handles confidential matters and facilitates problem resolution.
  • High level of interpersonal, coordinating, organizing and strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HR and talent management systems
