Job Description

Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled individual with strong business acumen and 3-5 years of experience in full inventory management using NetSuite or similar software. The ideal candidate will have a background in purchasing and production supervisory management. In this management-level role, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely completion of production for custom configurable sales orders to meet delivery deadlines. You will effectively manage purchasing and inventory to maximize cost efficiencies and maintain inventory control. Additionally, you will oversee and motivate staff to optimize their productivity and meet the demands of their positions. If you have a proven track record in these areas and are looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity, we encourage you to apply.

Responsibilities

Production Coordination and Expediting

  • Ensure timely sales order fulfillment by planning and coordinating sales orders throughout the production process. This involves communicating with vendors, receiving, and production staff as needed to expedite necessary materials and components.
  • Ensure special or customized items are ordered and received for on-time shipments to customers.
  • Identify potential parts shortages that could impact production shipping schedules and communicate with appropriate staff or vendors to resolve issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Order Coordination and Production Leads to manage the Production Backlog, ensuring that components and assemblies are completed according to their scheduled shipment dates.
  • Facilitate timely communication to Sales and others regarding any expected delays to customer orders and the expected resolution dates.
  • Oversee the Shipping function to arrange timely and safe deliveries to customers, including the management of shipping carriers and processes, and addressing international requirements.
  • Provide backup for shipping duties when necessary.

Inventory Management and Purchasing

  • Assist in managing inventory to ensure accuracy and efficient, timely production. This includes establishing, maintaining, and improving systems for inventory control and ensuring production and receiving personnel follow these systems.
  • Coordinate and direct Purchasing with Reorder Reports and other purchasing requirements as needed, using business skills to negotiate favorable terms and costs with vendors.
  • Optimize inventory ordering quantities and frequency to maximize cost savings while minimizing inventory carrying levels, including make-to-order and off-the-shelf items. Manage blanket PO deliveries based on usage throughout the year.
  • Ensure inventory is organized, stored, labeled, and stocked correctly. Manage overstock to prevent unnecessary reordering and miscounting.
  • Oversee inventory receiving and inspections, ensuring accurate counting and appropriate stocking of parts in assigned bin locations. Perform cycle counts as necessary and investigate discrepancies to adjust inventory as needed. Evaluate and implement controls to safeguard against shortages and miscounts, ensuring inventory accuracy.

NetSuite Comprehension and Optimization

  • Fully utilize the NetSuite ERP program for resource planning and inventory management. Research and implement necessary enhancements to reports, screens, or other aspects of NetSuite to improve inventory management, including automatic calculations such as lead times and reorder points.

Cost Analysis and Optimization

  • Develop awareness of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and the cost of finished products. Analyze BOMs for potential cost improvements, alternative vendors, designs, or substitutions that reduce cost without compromising quality.
  • Record and analyze Build Times, evaluate ways to optimize productivity, and capture data to determine build times per product and estimated labor costs. Work with production leads to manage staff and ensure productivity requirements are met.
  • Perform gross margin analysis and pricing recommendations. Determine current costs of finished products, including materials and labor, and periodically evaluate BOM costs versus selling prices. Highlight products with low gross margins and suggest price changes to meet profitability requirements.

Implement and Maintain Adherence to Procedures

  • Work with QA to establish proper controls over shipping, receiving, and production functions, developing new or refining existing procedures. Train and follow through with staff to ensure compliance with procedures.

Quality Control and Order Fulfillment Functions

  • Oversee final Quality Control of products and ensure accurate completion of order fulfillment and preparation for shipping. Provide backup assistance for QC and order fulfillment functions as needed.

Qualifications

3-5 years of prior experience in Production Coordination and Inventory Management.

Advancement Opportunities

Opportunity for advancement for self-motivated individuals who take initiative, embrace responsibilities, and excel in collaborative environments.
