Asian Health & Service Center is Hiring a Behavioral Health Associate Near Portland, OR

GENERAL POSITION DUTIES:

The Behavioral Health Associate’s primary role is to support clinicians in providing services to clients. Under supervision of licensed mental health professionals, the Associate assists with the delivery of skills training and case management services to support clients in achieving their treatment goals. The position provides direct support to clients through services such as skills training, activity therapy, behavioral interventions, and assisting with case management tasks. Other responsibilities include outreach activities, providing psychoeducational presentations, and administrative tasks related to service delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

2. Direct Service Provision

  • Provide direct support to clients with mental health concerns, through services such as skills training, activity therapy, etc.
  • Assist licensed mental health professionals in implementing treatment plans
  • Facilitate psychoeducation and skill-building groups
  • Provide intervention and support to clients in crisis
  • Collaborate with other members of the treatment team to provide comprehensive care to clients

3. Planning For Services

  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to discuss client progress and treatment plans

4. Linking Client to Supports and Services

  • Assist with case management tasks, including connecting clients with community resources and advocating on their behalf
  • Follow-up and support the client with enrollment and engagement with community services,
  • Monitor response of community partners to assure referral is effective for the client,
  • Support and consultation with family members and significant support persons,
  • Escort or accompany clients, where necessary, to ensure needs are met by other service providers.

5. Advocacy

  • Liaison with other agencies and systems to advocate on the clients’ behalf,
  • Training and support to encourage client self-advocacy where possible,

6. Maintain Record of Service Delivery

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with agency policies and procedures
  • Assist in maintaining billing record on services provided,
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with agency policy and applicable laws and regulations.

7. Other Functions

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities,
  • Stay up-to-date on latest research and best practices in mental health treatment,
  • May be called on to arrange or provide for transportation to and from community resources and services,
  • Other duties as assigned.

INTERPERSONAL CONTACT

The Associate will be expected to interact with clients and a variety of outside agencies, community partners, families, and significant support persons, and with various internal program staff either face-to-face or on the phone on a daily basis over the course of each work day.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience working with people with a variety of mental health concerns
  • Case management experience, including awareness of community resources and how to access them,
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, culturally competent, and client-centered care, including understanding of cultural, social and historical contexts of the communities being served.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (including both oral and written communication).
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients and community members while developing trusted service provider relationship.
  • Language skills – bilingual in English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin), Vietnamese or Korean.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools to organize and compose information and create documents that are easy for others to read and understand.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
  • Valid driver’s license with appropriate auto insurance or other means of transportation for community outreach contacts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to obtain QMHA certification (Refer to MHACBO for current certification requirements)
  • Bilingual in English and Korean, Cantonese/Mandarin or Vietnamese

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
