ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation is Hiring a Temporary Program Events Coordinator Near Richmond, VA

TEMPORARY PROGRAM EVENTS COORDINATOR 
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
ASK Childhood Cancer Foundation is seeking a part-time Temporary Program Events Coordinator. This position will plan, promote, and execute social events for childhood cancer patients, survivors, and their families with high energy and creativity. This position will manage three family events, two special population events, and bi-monthly clinic meals. The coordinator will also manage event volunteers and support the holiday adopt-a-family program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:The Temporary Program Events Coordinator reports to the ASK Director of Programs and works closely with the entire program team.
  • Create and implement fun, engaging, creative, and age-appropriate activities for children and families.
  • Coordinate and lead three family events- Fall Festival, Holiday Party and Photos with Santa.
  • Lead two special population events (preschool, elementary, and teens) and build a calendar for future events based on interest.
  • Update and track event budgets and prepare applicable timelines.
  • Manage event volunteers to include recruitment, scheduling, tracking, and communication.
  • Manage event venues and attend all related events.
  • Work with the marketing team to plan and implement creative marketing strategies to communicate events with families across multiple channels.
  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring high levels of participant satisfaction.
  • Assess event success by disseminating evaluations and making recommendations for future events.
  • Manage Welcome Kit resource inventory.
  • Manage snack and treasure chest inventory and coordinate donation drives with the development team.
  • Facilitate bi-monthly program events meetings and support staff with event needs and resources.
  • Foster and support the organization’s relationships with ASK families.
Education, Skills & Experience includes:
  • At least two years of event experience and/or experience leading groups of children/adolescents.
  • Proficiency in Google Workplace and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficient in basic graphic design to create flyers and social media graphics in Canva and make minor website updates.
  • Experience using an online email marketing platform such as Constant Contact.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to think creatively and produce compelling copy for use in collateral and across print and digital formats.
  • Ability to be organized and self-motivated while working in a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse community of families, volunteers, and vendors.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
This temporary, part-time (less than 30 hours per week), hourly, in-person position requires some evenings and weekends. It starts immediately and will last approximately four months through December 31, 2024.
