Job Summary

We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cost Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. As the heartbeat of our cost management efforts, you’ll dive into the intricacies of financial data, ensuring accuracy and driving strategic decisions by collaborating with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Shop Order Variance Analysis: Conduct daily shop order variance analysis, collaborating with Operations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

• Operating Cost Analysis: Analyze operating costs, including ad hoc studies on labor and machine hours, capacity utilization, purchase price variance, and make/buy decisions. Engage in other cost-related projects as needed.

• Month-End Close: Assist in month-end close activities for the general ledger. Perform reconciliations, journal entries, and trend explanations.

• Standard Cost: Set standard costs for new and revised products. Regularly review and analyze standard costs for existing products. Ensure the integrity and accuracy of standard cost data.

• Inventory Adjustments: Collaborate with production and warehouses to investigate inventory adjustments. Determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

• Cycle Count Audits: Audit cycle count activities, including item selection, recount decisions, and discrepancy research. Report on root causes and progress toward accuracy improvements.

• Cost Analysis Support: Provide cost analysis support to cross-functional areas as requested.

• Reporting and Collaboration: Create cost analysis reports using reporting tools. Collaborate with Sales & Marketing, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Finance peers to formulate corrective actions.

• Compliance and External Audits: Adhere to company accounting policies and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Support external audits.

• Budget Support and Adaptability: Provide cross-functional support during the operating and capital budget process. Be willing to take on new responsibilities as business needs evolve.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required. Additional coursework is preferred.

• 4 years of cost accounting experience with a minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment.

• Background must demonstrate a sound understanding of manufacturing and cost accounting principles.

• Prior experience/use and proficiency of ERP software systems, MS Office Suite, and reporting tools required. IFS ERP experience is a plus.

• Experience at a consumer-packaged goods manufacturer is a plus. Designer experience in reporting tools, Power BI, building MS Excel dashboards.

Skills & Abilities

• Strong technical accounting skills and experience with cost accounting systems in a manufacturing environment.

• Must be highly proficient using ERP systems and MS Office products.

• Must have strong interpersonal skills; work well with staff at all levels; be able to influence and motivate others.

• Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills, and be able to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.

• Must have a strong work ethic, possess high integrity, and exercise sound judgment.
