Procedure Lead

Department: Clinical Support

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Reporting To: Clinical Manager

Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 / hour

Description

The Aspire Procedure Lead is a vital part of our clinical staff in our mission to cure patients who suffer from allergy and sinus problems. They are responsible for supporting Sinus Procedure and ExACT injection operations within their region. In addition, this position will safely and efficiently execute the duties as a Medical Assistant on non-procedure/ExACT days.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform all duties required of a Medical Assistant when not directly engaged in ExACT or In-Office Procedure
  • (IOP) support.
  • Be a subject matter expert of all training materials available for ExACT and IOP training.
  • Communicate with other departments (eg. Sinus Team, scheduling, management) as needed to ensures successful and smooth operations at each clinic during IOP and ExACT appointment days. 
    • This includes ensuring there is adequate staffing and an assignment of duties for each procedure day at least 3 days prior to the procedure day.
  •  Coordinate with other parties (anesthesiology, ultrasound technician, etc.) to ensure all personnel and materials are present at the proper locations to support ExACT and IOP days.
  • Monitor and maintain surgical equipment.
  • Maintain and order supplies required for successful Sinus/ENT and ExACT operations in your assigned region.
    • Order supplies for the next procedure day the day after each procedure and 2 weeks in advance. (ie. regardless of how often procedures occur in a particular clinic, the procedure lead will be responsible for ordering supplies 2 weeks in advance of a procedure day. This does require procedure leads over weekly procedure clinics to ensure both the next week’s procedure supplies are in the clinic and ensure the supplies for the procedure day after that are ordered)
    • Working with balloon vendors to ensure devices are in the clinic prior to the procedure day.
  • Prepare the procedure room 1 day in advance of procedure day.
Potential Procedure day responsibilities:
  • Assist surgeons/providers with in-office procedures (IOPs) and ExACT Injection appointments within your market.
  • Prepare patients for procedure and/or exam, including but not limited to IV administration if necessary, though training would be provided if needed.
  • Escort procedure patients to the exam room; obtain vitals, and review past/present medical history and current medication list.
  • Ultrasound technician during ExACT if and when needed (training provided by Aspire)
  • Clean & Sterilize instruments using aseptic techniques as directed/trained by Aspire.
    • This includes ensuring equipment inspections are up to date.
  • Serve, at times, as a circulating scrub who would be responsible for collecting biopsy and culture specimens, labeling them, filling out lab requisition forms, and having the surgeon sign the orders all within the procedure rooms before moving to the next procedure patient, per aspire protocols. Conduct well check calls on all IOP patients in your market within 24 hours of the procedure. (goal being by noon the day following procedure)
  • Support the ongoing training of the Medical Assistants assigned to provide ExACT or IOP support in your market.

Requirements

  • Must have basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills
  • Must be able to effectively and clearly communicate
  • Must be able to administer injections
  • Must be able to manually take patient vitals
  • Must possess the ability to maintain an effective working relationship with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Must possess the ability to react calmly and effectively in a difficult or emergent situation
  • Must be organized and punctual as procedure days are busy and proper preparation and punctuality help them to run smoothly.
  • Completed Medical Assistant Program or Degree
  • Must have a valid driver's license
Preferred education and experience
  • 2 years of Medical Assistant Experience
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Must have a valid driver's license
Preferred education and experience
  • Current IV Certification
  • Medical Assistant Certificate, vocational nurse license or related experience
