The Northwest Service Center (an ASSA ABLOY company) is a manufacturer of steel doors and frames for the commercial and industrial markets. We are growing and we need your help to support that growth! Our facility based in Kent, Washington is looking to add motivated individuals who enjoy performing various shipping functions to help the operation run smoothly.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING:

The Shipping 1 team member will assist the department with the daily functions of the area. They will verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Prepare paperwork for shipments such as manifests, packing slips, bill of lading and invoices. Shipping/Receiving Coordinator will also schedule shipments with jobsite and keep a clear communication line with customer service.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet expectations of each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Review outgoing shipments and determine best method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Work with Customer Service team to provide shipment and tracking information.
  • Advise the Production team of any shortages or deficiencies.
  • Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Create and file proper documentation.
  • Coordinate returns of defective products from customers and vendors.
  • Enter all transactions in company ERP.
  • Trace missing or lost shipments.
  • Keep area clean and orderly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent shipping, receiving, or logistics experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using shipping programs such as; UPS or FedEx.
  • Recent forklift experience.
  • Experience working with an ERP system.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Language Ability

Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English. Good communication skills both written and verbal. 

Mathematical Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems.

Computer Skills

Knowledge of ERP systems and shipping software.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to; stand, use hands and fingers to operate equipment and a computer and handle documents. Regularly required to; walk and hear, lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position. 

The noise level in the facility environment is usually moderate.
