Overview:

A Skilled Tradesman is a highly skilled professional specializing in one or more specific trade professions who provides preventive maintenance, general maintenance and repair functions of trucks, trailers and equipment within terminal location. This position works closely with transport drivers and leadership to ensure facilities and equipment are adequately maintained and in proper working order at all times.

Company Interfaces:

• Reports to Transport Manager.
• The position will also interface with all employees within the terminal, as well as customers, vendors and employees from other parts of the company. Specifically, this individual will work closely with outside vendors for any necessary maintenance and repairs within the terminal requiring third party engagement.

General Responsibilities:

• Oversee PM Process
• Maintain PM schedules for each piece of equipment
• Oversee shop in absence of fleet manager
• Weld and fabricate as needed
• Learn how to enter work orders into the computer.
• Maintaining parts inventory for repairs and maintenance.
• Assist in ordering parts as needed
• Assign work to other techs as needed
• Perform repairs on equipment outside of regular PMs.
• Work with dispatch to resolve any issues that arise with equipment.
• Ability to perform minor metal fabrications.
• Ability to perform PM’s on company vehicles.
• Assisting in repairs to fleet vehicles and containers.
• Assisting with metal fabrication as needed.
• As other duties as required by Transport Manager.

General Qualifications:

• General computer skills and PC knowledge.
• Solid, proven mechanical skills.
• High school diploma/GED.
• An Associate’s Degree or certification in areas of specialty preferred,
• Skilled trades experience including diesel mechanics, welding and fabricating.
• Stable work history.

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time on concrete floors and outside surfaces.
• Able to work outside in varying weather conditions, varying cold, hot & humid temperatures.
• Manual dexterity; ability to reach; able to bend and move with agility.
• Ability to lift and move up to 75 lb.
