Community Accountability Department coordinates the enterprise-wide business unit efforts to ensure effective engagement with, investment in and extension of bank products and services to the communities in which Associated Bank operates. Collectively, these efforts comprise the company's Community Strategy and are governed by the Community Oversight Committee.

Responsible for building long term and effective relationships in support of the company's Community Strategy in a defined region/territory. Identify and engage with a variety of sourcing entities spanning the public and private sector, and include nonprofit and for profit organizations. Work to achieve the goals set forth in the Community Commitment Plan by developing and deepening relationships and partnerships with critical influencers within these organizations that help the bank and impacted lines of business achieve goals for targeted production and investment.

Work with the CRA Department, LOB Leaders, Community Market Presidents and other internal influencers and make recommendations for partnerships and support of organizations and initiatives that drive targeted production and outreach opportunities that support the Community Strategy across our assessment areas. Represent the bank through participation, attendance and engagement in conferences, local boards/councils, and other economic development opportunities as they arise. Serve as an expert for our managers and staff around the bank's community engagement efforts.

Work with the Community Accountability Director and line of business heads to support execution on community commitment plans and strategies. This could include input on negotiations with community activities, development and response to community group requests, working with line management to ensure products, policies, procedures and controls are in place to capture all of the banks efforts to meet its regulatory and community commitment plan objectives, working with the CA Director to track and report market level progress, and managing successful implementation of projects and initiatives that help achieve results including lending, investment, donations and volunteer engagement.

This position requires a credit check per 12 CFR Chapter X, Part 1026, Truth in Lending, Regulation Z.

Operates in full compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as applicable regulations and laws, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering and S.A.F.E. Act requirements. Must submit required information to meet registry requirements, obtain a unique identifier, and maintain the registration requirements as directed by the S.A.F.E Act.

As a Community Accountability Officer, You Will

  • Identify and develop eligible, philanthropic investment opportunities and grants in the assigned region. This would include developing and maintaining relationships with key nonprofit and other community stakeholders seeking investment and funding for their organization and/or programming that aligns with the company’s philanthropic pillars and prioritizes the objectives of our community and regulatory goals. Analyze, prioritize and submit for review and approval funding opportunities that have strategic fit with the company's business goals and objectives, and are responsive to community needs.
  • Identify and develop business relationships that lead to community development referrals in line with our community commitment and regulatory strategies to help close regulatory gaps that reach / impact our intended customers and communities. Provide these business development opportunities to the appropriate line of business. Provide technical assistance for bank staff on issues related to community development, investment and service. Maintain open communication with internal and external stakeholders in assigned territory, track and monitor regulatory and community commitment progress to ensure goal attainment.
  • As a subject matter expert for the bank, participate in nonprofit and government initiatives, committees, etc. to ensure Associated Bank is represented in the broader market as well as our intended communities. Represent the bank via various opportunities across the market including but not limited to board and council participation, conferences and other relevant meetings. Maintain effective outreach and client relationship management programs that identify affordable housing, small business, Community Development Financial Institution, workforce development and other initiatives addressing the needs of our intended customers and communities. Partner and strategize with the Director of Community Accountability in collecting and interpreting production, referral opportunity and other data. Provide feedback and direction on key nonprofit stakeholder impact in your defined territory. Present key findings and implications on production, key market priorities and provide business recommendations for the bank’s performance context
  • Manage the Community Advisory Council in your respective market including but not limited to making council member recommendations and managing the membership communication, managing initiatives and programs that are developed via the council’s recommendation. and participate in nonprofit and government initiatives, committees, etc. to ensure Associated Bank is represented in the broader market as well as our intended communities.
  • Provide reporting on various leading and lagging CRA, Multicultural and economic development indicators and their impact on the market's progress, such as market update presentations, call reports, regulatory and CCP progress updates. Summarize results for market leaders to ensure understanding and buy in from key internal decision makers.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Business, Finance, or Accounting. Required

Experience

  • 4-7 years banking in community development or business development with prior experience in one or more of the key development segments (residential lending, small business or community lending). Required
  • 2-4 years In a role that required relationship management skills. Required
  • 4-7 years Presenting material to both large and small audiences. Required
