QUALITY CONTROL SUMMARY

Do you have a keen eye for quality produce? Associated Grocers of New England is looking for a quality control inspector that ensures compliance with food safe handlings standards during receiving, storage, returns and shipment of all perishable products. AGNE is the largest retailer-owned, wholesale distribution center in New England and we abide by USDA/FDA standards.

This a full-time, non-exempt position with the following schedule: Monday thru Thursday 4:30am- 1:00pm and Friday 3:30- 12:00pm.

PRODUCE INSPECTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect inbound produce for compliance to AGNE’s quality guidelines.
• Inspect all other inbound perishable product for compliance with temperature and date guidelines.
• Review inhouse products for quality, temperature and rotation.
• Communicate regularly with procurement about the quality of products.
• Maintains records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines.
• Review all perishable returns for appropriate disposition.
• Follow food safe handling policy and procedures.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Physical stamina required: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
• Comfortable working in a multi-temperature environment, as low as -20°.
• Moderate produce product knowledge.
• USDA produce quality training preferred. Will train the right candidate.
• Three to five years of wholesale or retail produce experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. This includes both oral and writing skills.
• Basic computer skills.
