Summary of the Rail Car Technician position :

• Pay : $25 / hour
• Schedule : Monday - Thursday 6 AM - 4 : 30 PM or 2 PM - 12 : 30 AM; overtime on Fridays as necessary
• Job Type : Temporary-to-Permanent

Key Responsibilities of the Rail Car Technician :

• Rail car Maintenance : Assist with repairs and inspections of rail cars, ensuring they are clean and dry before and after the blasting process.
• Blasting Operations : Operate blasting equipment to remove rust, scale, paint and other materials from the interior and exterior of railcars.
• Surface Preparation : Prepare railcars for finishing, including caulking, taping and other necessary tasks.
• Equipment Management : Clean, maintain and store equipment properly adjusting and assembling as needed to ensure optimal operation.
• Safety Compliance : Work safely at heights and in confined spaces using safety harnesses as required.
• Team Collaboration : Assist welders, painters and other departments as necessary to ensure seamless operations.

Required Skills and Attributes for the Rail Car Technician position :

• Ability to follow written and verbal directions accurately.
• Basic math, reading and writing skills.
• Comfort with working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Experience with hand and power tools including blasting equipment, grinders, wire and sanding discs.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions both indoors and outdoors.
