Job Description:
The Association for Talent Development (ATD) is the premiere membership organization for those dedicated to the learning and talent development industry. Our mission is to create a world that works better by empowering L&D professionals to develop talent in the workplace. We provide our community with a wealth of resources such as books, magazines, webinars, research, all modalities of educational programming, and offer the gold standard in talent development certifications.
As a Content Manager, L&D at ATD you will report to the Senior Director, Content and will oversee the team's Learning & Development topic area. The Content Manager is responsible for creating and managing a suite of content and products/services that cater to those interested in learning and development. Key duties encompass content development, business development, online engagement, and product development.
The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple related areas, which may include acquiring and creating L&D-related content (blogs, videos, podcasts, job aids, etc.), managing onsite and online events, and creating compelling learning experiences to meet the needs of individuals and organizations. They should be committed to creating an exceptional ATD experience for those interested in developing their own careers in talent development (and the careers of others) inside organizations.
Specifically, the key initiatives you will support in this role include
  • Acquiring, creating, and curating L&D content and products (including blogs, articles, videos, podcasts, books, etc.) on L&D topics
  • Managing a content pipeline for magazine articles, blogs, and multiple newsletters
  • Supporting writing and curation for a weekly newsletter.
  • Moderating in-person and virtual events, such as conference sessions and webinars
  • Collaborating with ATD's conferences team to develop the program for ATD's Core 4 conferences
  • Collaborating with ATD's editorial team to acquire and develop 4-5 books a year on L&D topics, and manage relationships with ATD authors
  • Partnering with internal teams to develop and market new products and offerings
  • Working closely with the marketing team to identify and deliver on strategies and tactics (e.g. SEO strategy and content writing) that will bring increased exposure to the content area and products
  • Identifying the product, resource, and/or service needs of members and clients
  • Building relationships with subject matter experts in the learning & development field
  • Understanding and following trends, issues, and concepts in the L&D field
  • Supporting content development and audience acquisition for key sectors including healthcare and government.
About You....
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Familiarity in the talent development industry a plus
  • Content acquisition expertise - including working with SMEs
  • Event coordination
  • Excellent time management and multitasking/prioritization abilities
  • Team player paired with self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience with social media
  • Bachelor's degree preferred; will consider relevant work experience

  • The Content team is a team of 8 that works closely with nearly every other business unit in the organization.
  • Our goal is to focus on content development, product and event development, and audience growth and acquisition.
  • We support various projects and events including the development of TD magazine articles, blogs, and website content, assisting in conference programming, hosting the CTDO membership offerings, and building and maintaining relationships with key SMEs in the field.
