Job Summary |
The Director of Sales will manage and coordinate the sales activities of the insurance organization by generating the desired profitability and sales volume. The Director will evaluate and adjust strategies to respond to changing market conditions and competition. This role will ensure a high performance, results-driven sales environment. |
Job Responsibilities |
·Oversee field sales activities to include strategies, research, market analysis, comparative rater mastery, annual planning, and budgeting. ·Oversee and manage department performance and sales strategies. ·Coordinate with appropriate parties for field-sales support items including vendor negotiations, state and industry conferences and trade shows. ·Lead internal and external field-sales presentations. ·Hire, develop and manage the workflow and performance of all sales professionals under your direct supervision. ·Manage internal field-sales training and development function while supporting company values and HR practices. ·Develop and maintain incentive plans and training programs for external partners to support growth initiatives. ·Develop and maintain interdepartmental relationships that support company objectives. ·Ensure Sales Team provides necessary quotes and competitive intelligence from field to Product Management area. ·Partner with the IT Department to maintain/upgrade sales systems. ·Must demonstrate knowledge of agency regulations including, but not limited to, licensing requirements, agency appointment, and termination and licensing processes. ·Special projects and other duties as assigned. |
Formal Education & Certification Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Risk Management and/or Insurance or business that yields knowledge of indirect sales (through third parties) and numerical concepts necessary to understand commission structures, insurance pricing, etc.MBA preferred. Knowledge & Experience Ten years of sales related experience, preferably in multiple markets and/or distribution channels.Should include experience in entire sales cycle, development of sales teams, and P&L responsibility. P&C (personal lines or small commercial) experience preferred. Skills & Competencies ·Excellent communication skills with demonstrative ease with both verbal and written formats. ·Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple levels of activity without compromise to results. ·Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully ·Must possess analytical ability at a level to interact with associates, managers, agents and vendors. ·Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to present critical information in a way that is easily understood at all levels and across all channels ranging from internal executive management and entry-level associates; and from small-business agents to national accounts. ·Must be able to manage multiple priorities and effectively work both independently and in a group. ·Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) preferred and ability to interact comfortably with individuals of all origins. |
