Role Description

The Sr. Commissioning Process Engineer is responsible for identifying process gaps, developing tactical solutions, and identify resources to move the project forward. This position will handover plant operations to the long term team. The successful candidate will provide be the voice of the handover and communicate the process on a mega refinery project constructing a new production plant to produce and market renewable diesel - a green fuel experiencing strong, rising demand. The successful candidate will serve as a lead for monitoring and improving plant operations to increase operational stability and quality production rates to help achieve the business goals of the company. You will be involved in all stage of the process, from and construction, through installation and final commissioning. This is an on-site role located in Hastings, NE.

Role Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and technicians from the company's contractor, and from their own commissioning team, and supervise the site Pre-commissioning, Commissioning, and Start-up activities
• Participate in subsystem walkdowns to achieve mechanical completion.
• Ensure that all discipline punch list liquidation is completed
• Has a good knowledge of the project completion process, from construction to the completion of the performance test.
• Is familiar with completions systems, and the completion of the system documentation required (Inspection Test Reports)
• Ensure that the refinery plant operates to meet process requirements during commissioning, performance test and warranty periods.
• Proactively review Process Design Parameters, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, and Performance Test Requirements prior to pre-commissioning phase in order to anticipate training, tools and/or equipment needed to perform the necessary startup and operating activities.
• Coordinate with Sub-Suppliers, Contractors and/or Consultants to ensure normal, transient and/or extreme operating conditions are met and/or proactively determine necessary adjustments.
• Ensure technical solutions are properly communicated to key stakeholders in order to expedite project execution.
• Assist Customers with best operating practices, development of SOP's, and training during commissioning activities and/or normal operation.
• Provide in-office and on-site project technical support during installation and commissioning phase, project closeout and warranty periods.
• Ability to collect and analyze relevant operating information from multiple sources, including control systems, databases, log sheets, daily operation logs and/or operator interactions in order to troubleshoot operational challenges.
• Work closely with the Process, Warranty and the Quality Teams to ensure that design and/or manufacturing defects issues are dealt with in a timely manner.
• A bachelors degree is required, although candidates with extensive field and project experience would be considered.
• Previous project experience as a Sr. Process Engineer, Commissioning site lead or deputy commissioning manager for a mega refinery project.
