Safely erects and fits together appropriate equipment and materials for the building of asphalt plant
and related components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, KNOWLEDGE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists in the building of asphalt plant equipment and related components by safely and efficiently fitting and welding metal parts in a quality-conscious manner.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to properly and weld using the GMAW and FCAW processes.
- Inspects metal prior to welding for smoothness and acceptability and produce welds with minimal post grinding.
- Ensures welding machine settings are appropriate for work to be performed.
- Must be trained in and know PPE requirements for welding, including hood and filter shades and arm/body protection.
- Follow proper safety rules and procedures at all times.
- Ability and experience to properly and safely weld using GMAW and FCAW.
- Ability to read and understand weld symbols on drawings required.
- Ability to safely use cranes and forklifts required.
- Must be able to pass a welding skills test.
- Fit-up knowledge and ability required.
- High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
