Aston Carter is Hiring an Accounting Manager Near Irvine, CA
- Apply a thorough understanding of the financial reports and general ledger structure.
- Managing and overseeing the daily activities of the accounting department and ensuring that all major projects, month-end, quarter-end and year-end reports are completed accurately and on time.
- Prepare and analyze Quarterly Reserves.
- Applying and enforcing proper accounting methods.
- Preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations.
- Review and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
- Develop and Mentor staff.
- Researching accounting issues for compliance with GAAP.
- Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks, as needed, through evaluation and suggested improvements to internal accounting processes.
- Work with retained Audit firm to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit and ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met, including quarterly reviews and month-end close procedures.
- Must be hands on. Must have a flexible schedule and a positive attitude.
- Manage special projects. Job Qualifications:
- 7 year’s proven work experience and experience in a large corporate accounting department and public accounting.
- Prior experience as an Accounting Manager
- Excellent leadership and communications skills.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong proficiencies with Microsoft Office applications including intermediate to advanced level in Excel to perform pivot tables, VLOOKUP and high-level functions and formulas.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages. JD Edwards preferred.
- Thorough understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and be able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to learn fast and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty.
- Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including ability to lead team projects. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent. Active CPA or Masters preferred.

Additional Skills & QualificationsTop Skills: GL; Journal Entries; Financial statements (all 3 - balance sheets; cash flow statements; income statements); intercompany consolidations Years of Exp: Minimum 7 total years of accounting; min 2 years of expereince as an accounting manager Excel: advanced (macros would be great but not required; need to be able to manipulat large data sets; they use excel heavily D2D ERP: JD Edwards but open to ERP (Potentially implementing SAP in Q4/Q1) Management experience: min 2 years; must have managed a team of at least 2-3 people; managing a team of 5 people in this role Industry: Manufacturing or distribution highly preferred Schedule: 2 days OS; 3 days remote; training will be onsite for 1st week Public accounting experience would be preferred but not required Culture fit: very important; need someone that is very personable and outgoing; someone that meshes well with different personalities and is a team player; nobody that is a "my way or the highway" type of individual How is performance measured: ability to close month end in 4 days Disqualifiers: no degree; exp only managing 1 person; weak excel skills CPA or MBA preferred but not required
