Information System Security Officer (ISSO)- Senior - AFRL/RWOCBe the DifferenceAstrion offers comprehensive services that boost preparedness, optimize performance, and ensure success across various domains, from Cyber to Digital, Mission and Systems, servicing our nation's Civilian, Defense and Space communities. We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC, Huntsville, AL and Burlington, MA with an additional 36 locations across the U.S.
Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for the Tenants Contract, supporting the Air Force Division at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Munitions Directorate’s Integration and Operations Division (AFRL/RWOC) at Eglin AFB, FL.

Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Education: Master’s Degree. Relevant experience may be substituted for the degree.
  • Experience: 10 Years Experience.
  • Security Clearance: Secret Clearance. Top Secret Eligible. US Citizenship is required.
  • Certifications:
    • DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II
    • CompTIA Security CE or equivalent
    • Experience: Experience in information security roles, preferably in a military or defense environments. This may include experience in areas such as cybersecurity, information assurance, network security, or system administration.
    • Familiarity with DoD Security Regulations: Thorough understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) security regulations, policies, and guidelines, including DoD Instruction 8500 series, DoD 8570/8140 requirements, and Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes.
    • Risk Management Expertise: Proficiency in risk management methodologies and techniques, including risk assessment, risk analysis, and risk mitigation strategies, to effectively safeguard information systems and data assets.
    • Technical Proficiency: Strong technical skills in areas relevant to information security, such as network security, operating systems, cryptography, intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, and security assessment tools.
    • Communications Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for effectively communicating security requirements, policies, and procedures to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical personnel.
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is critical for reviewing, analyzing, and documenting security controls, vulnerabilities, and incidents accurately and comprehensively.
    • Problem Solving Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify security issues, assess their impact, and develop effective solutions and countermeasures to address them.
    Responsibilities
    • Security Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant security policies, regulations, and guidelines established by the Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force, and other regulatory bodies.
    • Risk Management: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating security risks to information systems, including conducting risk assessments and implementing appropriate security controls.
    • Security Authorization: Leading or supporting the process of obtaining and maintaining authorization to operate (ATO) for information systems, including preparing documentation such as System Security Plans (SSPs) and Security Assessment Reports (SARs).
    • Security Monitoring: Monitoring information systems for security incidents, vulnerabilities, and unauthorized access attempts, and coordinating incident response activities as needed.
    • Security Training and Awareness: Providing security training and awareness programs to system users, ensuring personnel understand their security responsibilities and best practices.
    • Security Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date security documentation, including configuration management, system inventories, and security control assessments.
    • Security Auditing: Conducting periodic audits and assessments of information systems to ensure compliance with security requirements and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Security Engineering: Collaborating with system developers and engineers to integrate security requirements into the design, development, and deployment of information systems.
    • Security Policy Development: Assisting in the development and implementation of security policies, procedures, and guidelines tailored to the specific needs and risks of the organization.
    • Security Incident Response: Responding to security incidents promptly and effectively, including conducting investigations, implementing corrective actions, and reporting incidents to appropriate authorities.
    • Follows guidance from ISSMs: Collaborates with ISSMs to sustain integrity, confidentiality, and availability of organizational resources.
