Position Type: Temporary Contract
Overview:Our client is seeking a skilled structural chemist specializing in Solid State NMR spectroscopy for our Material and Analytical Sciences department. This role involves using advanced equipment, contributing to drug development, and collaborating internationally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use solid-state NMR (ssNMR) to acquire and interpret data for molecular structure analysis.
- Characterize pharmaceutical materials like particles, powders, and suspensions.
- Evaluate a variety of materials, including crystalline and non-crystalline small molecules, biologics, and drug products.
- Measure components of APIs and drug products using quantitative ssNMR methods.
- Utilize molecular modeling and predictive tools for 3D structural evaluation.
- Ensure proper data backup and retrieval.
- Plan and conduct experiments with minimal supervision.
- Stay current with scientific literature and apply new knowledge to experiments.
- Write reports, protocols, and methods, and present findings at internal meetings.
- Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of experience with ssNMR spectroscopy for characterizing pharmaceutical molecules.
- Experience with solution NMR, ssNMR sample preparation, and data interpretation.
- Knowledge of changing Bruker ssNMR probes.
- Basic understanding of molecular structure and interactions.
- Familiarity with modern computational methods (e.g., qm-DFT, Monte Carlo) and molecular modeling software.
- Experience with HPC clusters, Linux environments, and job submission programs.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong laboratory practices, communication skills, and organizational skills.
- Experience with membrane protein samples is a plus.
- Experience with solution NMR for structure elucidation.
- Knowledge of molecular modeling software (e.g., Gaussian, Schrodinger, Materials Studio suite, CCDC software).
