ASU Career Services is Hiring a Research Lab Coordinator Near Arizona, AZ

Job DescriptionUnder the guidance of Dr. Rebecca K Blais, the research lab coordinator will assist in all operational activities for The Military Social Science Laboratory (MiSSiLe) at ASU, which studies correlates of suicide risk among US service members and veterans. Studies primarily focus on exposure to trauma, psychological disorders, and relational strain. The laboratory is funded by the Department of Defense and the American Psychological Association. The lab manager will have the opportunity to directly contribute to the research mission and will work with graduate students, undergraduates, and co-investigators at multiple institutions. Tasks include, but are not limited to, organizing and overseeing current projects as well as IRB oversight maintenance. Opportunities for pursuing independent research questions are available.

Essential Duties
Sets up or supervises staff that facilitate research activities.
  • Oversee day-to-day lab functions, tracking and organizing the multiple simultaneous lab projects.
  • Obtain and maintain IRB and regulatory approvals.
  • Assist in detail-oriented research tasks (e.g., literature searches, taking meeting minutes) where fit.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in the area of the scientific discipline and three (3) years of related experience which includes two (2) years laboratory experience in a research setting with responsibility for hazardous material management OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
  • Evidence of a Bachelor’s degree required at time of start.
  • Some prior research experience.
  • Master’s degree is preferrable but not required.
Working Environment
  • The candidate will work in the lab in SCOB or can-do part remote work.
  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (10%).
  • Regular activities require ability to flexibly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
  • Receives regular review of outcomes to ensure adherence with established expectations/deliverables.
