**SCHEDULE:** 40 hours per week

**SUPERVISOR:** Family Store General Manager

**DEGREE OF SUPERVISION:** Annual Performance Reviews

**MISSION STATEMENT:**

**SCOPE OF POSITION:**

The Family Store Warehouse Manager plans, organizes, structures, and supervises the daily operations of the Family Store Warehouse area. This individual works with employees and volunteers to accept, sort, rotate, and price donations and ensure that donors are treated with excellent customer service, including courtesy, efficiency, and effectiveness. The warehouse manager is also responsible for the safety and security of employees, donors, customers, and volunteers.

The warehouse manager must understand that the receiving and processing of donations directly impact the financial success of the family store. The position will meet the measurable objectives set by the general manager and/or Corps Officer.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

* High school diploma or equivalency.

* One year of management experience in a retail operation or equivalent structured environment.

* Minimum of one-year light industrial, transportation, warehouse, or operations experience preferred.

* Ability to operate a cash register and handle monetary transactions.

* Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; be responsible, well organized, and dependable.

* Must have a working knowledge of basic light industrial processing and/or operations functions in a warehouse environment.

* Must have a valid Alaska Drivers license with a CDL endorsement.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:**

* On occasion, acts as Assistant Store Manager when Store Manager is absent.

* Maintains excellent customer relations by giving prompt and courteous assistance to donors and customers.

* Articulates resources needed by the general manager to ensure and maintain an adequate amount of goods on hand.

* Oversees the accomplishment of goals in accepting, sorting, rotation, pricing, and stocking of donations. Included timely removal/rotation (ragout or disposal) of dated goods from the sales floor.

* Ensure that each production area operates per standards and in a manner to be as financially successful as possible, i.e., store sales, recycling requirements, dump expense reductions, etc.

* Setup and ensure efficient processing operations. Monitor back stock regularly and increase production as needed to keep sales floor products current and well-stocked.

* Perform regular (at least weekly) inspection processing operations in the warehouse and on the sales floor; follow up with any irregularities and coach/staff volunteers as needed. Conduct inspection at irregular intervals and review production quotas, quality, and pricing of all items intended for store and/or dump/recycling.

* Ensure timely completion of regular and accurate paperwork per supervisor. This includes daily production reports, safety reports, etc.

* Make sure donors receive prompt service and receipts for goods donated. Ensure donation area is adequately staffed during peak periods.

* Supervises employees and volunteers and delegates production duties as directed to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and directives as directed by the general manager.

* Participates in all staff training and staff meetings, contributes to performance appraisals and provides coaching and disciplinary actions as indicated.

* Train production personnel and volunteers in accordance with guidelines.

* In the absence of the general manager, oversees store operations.

* Assures safety of employees, customers, donors, property, and buildings. Reports all accidents, injuries, and safety hazards to the general manager.

* Maintains, updates, and communicates list of unacceptable donations to donors, employees and volunteers.

* Reports maintenance needs and ensures warehouse and vehicle cleanliness both inside and out. Maintains and cleans bathrooms.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

**ENVIRONMENT:**

Word is performed in a heated and ventilated store setting. Noise level is low. Brief exposure to cold and inclement weather when managing the receipt of donations.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**

Speaking, sitting, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, standing, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, climbing, and balancing. Hearing and visual acuity must be within normal limits. Lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and either have or can obtain CDL endorsement. Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. A qualified person with a disability may request a modification or adjustment to the job or work environment in order to meet the physical requirements of the position. The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy requests as long as the accommodation needed is reasonable and no undue hardship would result.
