Job Summary

Provides athletic training support for Springfield School District (SSD) athletic teams, covering practices and competitions as needed. It is contracted for the Fall, Winter, and Spring Seasons.

Essential Duties

• Advises and treats student-athletes on maintaining physical fitness and participating in athletic competitions.
• Provides daily treatment and rehabilitation for student-athletes who have injuries.
• Evaluate athletes' physical condition, response, and progress and discuss with appropriate staff (e.g., athletic director, School Nurse, Principal, etc.).
• Informs coaches of athletes' condition status and provides referrals to auxiliary medical personnel as needed.
• Records and maintains appropriate medical records for treatments given.
• Provides medical emergency coverage to injured student-athletes at practices and athletic events, as needed. Administers first aid until appropriate medical assistance can be obtained.

Additional Duties

• Ensures athletic facilities comply with safety procedures. (EAP)
• Assists with ensuring athletes and staff comply with any health protocols.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Computer Skills, etc.)

• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Bachelor’s degree in athletic training from a CAATE-accredited institution 
• Possess Athletic Trainer licensure through the state of Vermont or eligible to become licensed in Vermont by the date of employment
• Emergency Cardiac Care certification through the Board of Certification

Desired Qualifications

• Master’s degree in athletic training from a CAATE-accredited institution
• Experience providing athletic training services
