The Licensed Counselor works with matriculated and non-matriculated full- and part-time students with a wide-range of issues. The Counselor provides individual counseling, crisis intervention, assessment, case management, consultation, outreach, development and implementation of relevant programming and training to the campus community. The Counselor provides supports to aide in the student’s overall success in reaching their goals and addressing their specific needs. The Counselor will perform the essential functions noted below.

1. Qualifications:
A. Educational Background: Master's degree in counseling, social work, mental health, or closely related field required. Licensure of LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent in New York State required. Minimum of two years counseling experience; experience in a community college setting is preferred.
B. Special Skills: Ability and desire to work with the college student population to provide a variety of counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, and referral to specialized mental health resources as needed. Ability to maintain required confidentiality, student record documentation and retention, and knowledge of NYS laws and licensure requirements related to mental health counseling. Computer proficiency required. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.
