Job Summary:

Atlanta Diabetes Associates is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Coordinator to join our team. The Billing Coordinator will be responsible for managing and posting payments, handling rejections, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of all billing activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical billing, a thorough understanding of EPIC, and excellent organizational skills.

** Key Responsibilities: **

1. Payment Processing:

- Retrieve payments from the lockbox and bank accounts.

- Update and maintain payment spreadsheets accurately.

- Post payments from the lockbox, with a significant portion (90%-100%) done manually.

- Post payments received from the bank.

2. Rejections and Denials:

- Manually work and post payment rejections in EPIC.

- Pull Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) not listed in EPIC from seven different sites.

- Distribute denial follow-up tasks to the appropriate team members.

3. Credits and Adjustments:

- Review and investigate the cause of any credit balances.

- Manually post all interest payments received.

- Manually post payments mailed to the office.

- Manually post patient credit card payments listed in Waystar.

- Process and post all insurance credit card payments received via fax or lockbox.

- Apply all recoupments for insurance checks manually.

4. Communication and Coordination:

- Respond to all email inquiries regarding payments promptly.

- Ensure all billing records are kept accurate and up to date.

- Collaborate with the billing team to improve processes and resolve issues.

** Working Conditions: **

Work is performed in an office, laboratory, and/or clinic environment. This is a full-time position, and full-time is defined as 40 hours per work week. ** Qualifications: **

- A high school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or a related field is preferred.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing, preferably within a medical practice or healthcare facility.

- Proficiency in using EPIC and other billing software.

- Strong understanding of medical billing codes, insurance processes, and EOBs.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
