Atlanta Mission is Hiring a Senior Volunteer Relationship Manager Near Atlanta, GA

The Volunteer Relationship Manager serves within our ministry by recruiting, selecting, equipping, leading, and developing volunteers who provide strategic support and services to Atlanta Mission clients and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Coordination and Development

  • Build and maintain relationships with key staff to understand client services, needs, and program requirements
  • Lead bi-annual needs assessment across multiple campuses with leadership staff to identify opportunities to increase client services capacity and reduce organizational staffing expenses by integrating volunteers into appropriate staff-led positions and future positions for program expansion
  • Serve as liaison between campus staff leadership and outside volunteer organizations that provide key children services throughout the year
  • Collaborate with staff to develop and enhance multi-faceted volunteer opportunities, supporting current needs and facilitating future growth
  • Coordinate the creation and implementation of strategic plans and initiatives to achieve measurable goals across multiple campuses

Leadership Development Programming

  • Design and execute a volunteer leadership model within assigned ministry areas that increase staff and program capacity by recruiting and developing leader volunteers who lead volunteer teams
  • Provide support, resources, and leadership to high-level volunteer leaders responsible for recruiting, selecting, leading, and equipping their own volunteer teams
  • Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, selection, training, and leadership of volunteers for assigned ministry areas
  • Build and manage relationships with key ministry partner organizations that provide essential children's services and programs through their volunteers

Volunteer Recruitment and Training

  • Develop and execute ongoing strategies for volunteer recruitment and retention, including the orientation and onboarding of new volunteers
  • Develop job descriptions, outline expectations, and create training resources for volunteer roles
  • Maintain and update training material templates for receiving departments
  • Manage the scheduling, coordination, and tracking of volunteer hours and activities using Volunteer and Donor Management Software

Volunteer Experience and Stewardship

  • Build and foster relationships within a caseload of approximately 100 150 champion volunteers
  • Develop a comprehensive volunteer stewardship program that values and appreciates volunteers in all roles
  • Conduct regular forums and surveys to evaluate volunteer experience and solicit feedback for program improvements to drive volunteer engagement and retention
  • Invite volunteers to annual review sessions to identify new growth and development opportunities, where applicable
  • Lead multi-channel communication efforts to promote and facilitate volunteer engagement and management

Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrated success in recruiting, selecting, and training lead volunteers, with significant experience managing medium to large-scale donor or volunteer programs (75-150 volunteers).
  • Experience and success in building rapport with and maintaining long-term relationships with a wide range of internal constituents including Board Members, senior leadership, donors, program staff, and volunteers
  • Self-motivated with a strong ability to work collaboratively within a team, demonstrating exceptional leadership and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop long-term plans, set objectives, and track and report on progress toward achieving them
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with various audiences to convey the mission of Atlanta Mission.
  • Ability to develop and deliver advanced training programs and workshops to equip volunteers with specialized skills, enhancing their ability to contribute effectively to the mission.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Office, and Word, and familiarity with web-based systems; Experience with donor/volunteer systems (e.g., Salesforce, VolunteerHub) is highly desirable.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing, sitting, and/or walking)
  • Must have the ability to constantly operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a copy machine, calculator, and computer printer
  • Must be able to communicate accurate information
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20lbs
