Atlanta Public Schools is Hiring a Director of Nutrition Warehouse, Equipment and Construction Projects Near Atlanta, GA

The Director of Nutrition Warehouse, Equipment, and Construction Projects oversees the comprehensive operations of the Nutrition warehouse, ensuring seamless delivery of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) commodity foods, supplies, and equipment to meet the demands of school nutrition programs across all APS schools. This role involves managing technology systems, labor resources, and protocols to comply with federal, state, and local regulations and policies. The incumbent will supervise, evaluate, and direct a team to uphold operational excellence and regulatory compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Direct day-to-day operations of the Nutrition warehouse, optimizing processes for efficient delivery of goods and services.
  • Direct, supervise, manage, and evaluate staff members.
  • Collaborate and communicate with district departments, outside vendors, and stakeholders to ensure compliant operation of the warehouse and maintenance of nutrition facilities and equipment.
  • Analyze, organize, and oversee utilization of space in the nutrition warehouse to ensure its organization, efficiency, and compliance with USDA regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies(OSHA) and safe working practices.
  • Ensure the security and accurate accounting of nutrition warehouse inventory.
  • Ensure all school nutrition cafeterias have the appropriate equipment needed to operate the nutrition program.
  • Direct, manage, and analyze the utilization of nutrition services spaces and the relocation of all nutrition services programs and equipment during construction and renovation projectsto ensure the continuity of service during these projects.
  • Ensure all Health Department inspections and licensing are completed and in place for all school cafeterias.
  • Prepare and assist in the budgeting process regarding warehouse operations, equipment purchases, and maintenance, and other areas of responsibility.
  • Spearheaded construction-related projects, from planning to execution, to ensure timely completion and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Facilities staff and outside vendors on the appropriate specifications for nutrition program construction and renovation projects.
  • Review all construction and renovation-related plans to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding the nutrition program operations.
  • Manage procurement, project management, installation, and training for large equipment and furniture across school cafeterias and the department.
  • Supervise the surplus equipment process, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to maintain equipment and oversee facility maintenance.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person or virtually and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours, and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and private transportation to travel between district facilities.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 Years combined experience managing a food distribution warehouse or large equipment procurement facility with project management experience, preferably in support of a K-12 nutrition program or similar experience.
  • 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with project management, contract services, and procurement regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding the United States Department of Agriculture food warehousing and distribution.
  • Knowledge of USDA, GeorgiaDepartment of Education, and State Board of Education regulations, policies, and laws regarding school nutrition programs.
  • Knowledge of school cafeteria operations.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Leadership & supervisory skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
